This is some of most dramatic and sweeping and fierce ballet music, the music for the wicked fairy Carabosse arriving and placing a curse on the infant. It's nice how George Bruns adapted many parts of the ballet for the Disney Studio in 1959-- but here's a toast to the man who first conjured up such fantastic stuff: to Tchaikovsky. 🍷

"Well well, quite an assemblage you have King Florestan. Royalty, Nobility, Gentry and, (notices fairies and chuckles) how quaint. Even the rabble. I did felt quite distressed by not receiving my invitation. Must be due to some strange oversight. Well then I best be on my way." "And, you're not offended?" "Not at all your highness. And to show I bear no ill will, I too bestow a gift on the child. LISTEN WELL ALL OF YOU! The child will grow into a fine lady, gifted in beauty and grace, beloved by all who know her. But...Before the sun sets on her sixteenth birthday, she shall prick her finger on the sharp tip of a simple needle, AND DIE! (evil laughter"

Love the fairies interactions. "What won't she expect? She knows everything." "Oh but she doesn't dear. Maleficent doesn't know anything about Love, or Kindness, or the Joy of helping others.--You know sometimes I don't think she's very happy." "Of course it's the only thing she can't understand, and won't expect." .... "You mean live like mortals? For sixteen years? We don't know how. We've never done anything without magic." "And that's why she'll never expect." I.e. imagine living 16 years without electricity (and Google) to protect your BFF's baby that has a Hit on her.

The music from 1:56 to 2:13 is scarier than Night on Bald Mountain, not that it gives me the shivers.

It isn't, obviously, the finale of the entire ballet (3rd act), called the "apotheosis", or "Apothéose", but the finale of the Prologue.

@@andrewabbey3669 And the plot ,Good vs Evil was added in the ballet in the Sleeping Beauty Story ...The biggest issue with the fairy tale's plot is that it's rather aimless ... In the Perrault ( and pretty much any written variation of this story ) everything is severely underdeveloped and random which makes it nearly impossible to make into a ( good ) film ...Do to the lack of cohesion and inactive characters ... Tchaikovsky's ballet offers a a much more workable story ,unlike Perrault's or Grimm's and ESPECIALLY Bassile's variation ...
