Im 2 years late here. Roland has pretty much got rid of the TD1 since it's old and outdated. If you really want to get into roland kits. Go and get yourself a used TD11. Because you can get one for the same price as this piece of crap. and it'll be a better kit.

What a cool product! How does this work in a Pro Tools setting with (Slate, Toon, or Addictive)? I heard it skipped midi notes. I'd love it for my studio.

Hi Roland. Not sure where else to put this enquiry (I tried the FB page but no answer yet). I am trying to plug in my laptop to the Roland TD-1K module via the USS option but it's not working. The manual says I don't need a driver and yet I get no sound from the laptop through the module. Am I right in thinking that the USB option should work? I don't have a 3.5mm jack mix in cable to hand... would this be what I need to get this working? Thanks.

It passes MIDI not audio. You need a MIDI drum software like SSD.

To acoustic-experienced drummers who also have tried TD1k: would you recommend it for a beginner? Particularly on what I'm hearing about learning on e-kits in general would be hard on "stick control" and "dynamics" (not really sure but I take it's probably about rebound/feel and response/sensitivity)? But I also am hearing Roland is superior at those regard, but how about this particular unit? Also, do how's the beaterless pedal? It's probably inferior to the normal ones but it shouldn't be that bad? You could still make some pseudo-"double ped" bit (2 consecutive fast kick) right? Isn't it moving while your playing? Thanks a lot!

I can’t seem to find anyone that sells the V version, with the mesh/rim snare, just the standard TD-1K. Do you just buy the TD-1K and upgrade to the snare? What am I missing?
i would like to know what sounds can be triggered on the snare rim for each kit

Just the "rim shot" sound which is pretty much the same on each kit.
