I had this happen to me one day in my golftdi with 168k the car just started juggering and puffing loads of white smoke plus could hear something bouncing about inside the head .. I decided to change the whole engine in my case and only bought the car a little while ago . The joys of motoring 😁

***** Any and All Turbo equipped Vehicle should use only Full Synthetic Motor Oil. These TDI's have a lot of torque and that translates into higher forces on all internal engine components. Synthetic oils not only resist heat better than standard oil blends, it also has better cushioning and vertical surface sticking ability. Bottom line you can pay a little more for oil over the life of your TDI vehicle's life or you can spend more on vehicle maintenance and emergency roadside service.

Syntetic oil is verry importand but the specs are important too not all syntetic oil are made the same I pesonally don't beleive in longer oil change than 15 000 km's more than that is too much.

I just put some assembly lube on the lifters and on the cam lobes then just started the car normally in the repair manual they say not to start the car in less than 30 minutes after the lifter replacement but I doubt that you would finish the job in less than 30 minutes .

Sones S Hi usually when one or more lifters are busted like in the video the idle will be not too bad but if you remove the pipe from the air flow meter and rev the engine at around 2500 rpm you will hear thunk thunk thunk noise that is not normal if you have a bad exhaust lifters you might hear it in the exhaust.
