If you use a ball rolled oolong tea (for example) by the time you’ve brewed a few infusions the leaves will have expanded to take up the whole teapot, so the ratio leaf to space in vesicle between tea and mate is not always as different as one might think

you left out southeastern Bolivia and southern Chile, where we also drink lots of mate tea! And you are right, the Jesuits were the ones that created yerba plantations, created some varieties (like the Caa Mini) and transformed it into an industry. During colonial times they exported from their paraguayan mission plantations to all neighboring countries, and quite soon plantations also appeared in Argentina and Brazil. It was an important source of vitamin C for regions where lots of meat and few vegetables were eaten. And it was too bad the testers did not get Brazilian gaucho cut yerba mate to try...

Why are some mate's considered "beginner mate"?
@MateyGardelOriental
Жыл бұрын
Because of the size..A begginer usually doesnt know if they gonna like it that is why is recomended no to put too much yerba (is a waste of yerba mate) and....thats why is recomended to start with a small mate.."beginner mate")

@@limosuisse5140 According to figures from the United Nations' Food and Agriculture Association (FAO), Brazil is the biggest producer of yerba maté in the world, producing over 619,000 tonnes in 2017. It was followed by Argentina (290,950 mt) and Uruguay (105,005 mt).18 de jan. de 2019
@@lucasandrade6 planted in Brazil but Uruguayan standard that is, the recipe is Uruguay, but the owners are Uruguayans and produce Uruguayan-style yerba since our yerba is different from the Brazilian one, which is a green powder and Argentina's pure stick and loses its flavor very quickly

@@АнтонГородецкий-ъ3о You can use any juice but the "best" would be any citrus juice. So lemon, lime, orange and pomelo would be some good juices. Though you might want to water it down so the juice isn't too sour!
