I was just given one today. No one ever worked on it but me, ever since my tech college teen days. Last I serviced it was 1999, and the owner used it once since, covered it with garbage bags, and did not look at it till today. Can't wait to service it again, ordered all new rubber stuff for it today.

I bought one of these back in the 70's from a GI that was told it couldn't be modified to play on US voltage. I open it up and changed the main belt to a different pulley and fixed it, simple fix! I think I gave him $125 for it at the time. Maybe I had to flip a voltage switch also, it's been so long ago I forget. I sold it after about 5 years, tape was too expensive! especially at 15ips. I dipped into cassettes and never looked back. It is an excellent deck and very impressive to operate and eye candy to boot!

I'd reverse the wood side panels if the rear edges are good.

on this unit do you have the ability to monitor the recorded tape during recording, or can you only monitor the input?

He was monitoring the output in this video. When he flipped the two switches UP with his fingers, you were then hearing what had just been recorded.

I started buying these in 1995 for a hundred bucks or less. Have a bedroom full of them. That's how I make my living. Same with Technics direct drive turntables. Unless you have 2 grand, don't bother asking if any of mine are for sale. Every one has been completely disassembled and rebuilt. I even have a 1 year warranty.

Lol they're all over the place out here in California the land of vintage hi-fi, rebuilt (and not just the pinch roller / arm clean and lube, and deoxited switches, either... an actual complete teardown), for far less.
