Really great that you are promoting Singapore via KZitem. Please don't get me wrong but I think we have 4 official languages, but main language will be English and national language Malay. Maybe can start by explaining Singapores culture first, this way it might makes more sense "understanding" Singlish

🤔 Can someone please tell me how to explain "lah/leh/lor" to a foreigner?! It is literally impossible to explain when to use which term! Let us know what are some of your fav/most commonly used Singlish words! 🇸🇬

Jess - They are "SUFFIXES" to emphasise or change the context of a sentence. As a Singaporean, you will know what the sentences mean below. Try to explain to him. I don't have it lah! - I truly, really, do not have it. I don't have it lor - I thought I had it. I can't find it. I don't have it leh - I'm supposed to get it? I actually don't have it. I don't have it wor! - Why does everyone have it except me?~! I don't have it meh? - What, you thought I didn't have it? I ACTUALLY DO~! Can anot? 😂🤣 Just tell him, each of the above sentence has a completely different meaning. The one single word no one can explain (not even me) is "hannor". All I can tell them is that it's an agreement word, like "yes" or "I totally get it". I don't think it stems from any dilect or language, but more like a grunt (I think) from our grandparents and older generation. The exasperated version is "hannah hannah!" 😂🤣
