I learned English watching Buffy The Vampire Slayer. Difficult at first, but I was so obsessed with the show that I ended up learning the scripts and lots of vocabulary, haha.

I recommend anything that students find entertaining. Authentic tv entertainment in English with English subtitles is a must. I would like to see more English speaking entertainment with English subtitles on youtube.

Agreeing with +IrisPermuy, comedy, sitcoms are the hardest to understand because of wordplays, idioms and isolated cultural jokes. These have no story connection, making the language the hardest to be understood by foreigners. The best series are the ones that can be more understandable without words. PS: Series that are storyline-based (I don't know / remember the proper term) tend to repeat the vocabulary. For example: in Breaking bad we can hear many words that repeat: meth, bitch, crystal, police, chemistry. With time we can deduct what these words mean from context (better input)

I understand that sitcoms can be attractive for English learners, but I don't know about easy. Some of the situations are indeed obvious, but lot of them are based in wordplay, which I think is one of the most difficult comical devices to get for a non-native speaker.
