thing is it aint a hardware limitation - whether you have a 6 year old 980 or a 3090, and no mattet the cpu, ram, etc. you will always get slowdowns and I don't think that'll change in 10 years either e.g. take a look at minecraft tnt explosions, they lagged like hell 10 years ago and still lag today, purely due to java limitations. I suspect its something similar here as well

That's really just a mapmaking convention - the 'ground' is usually a couple voxels on top of unbreakable stuff, but there's no inherent physics/engine reason for it to be this way. See the workshop maps with minecraft chunks and the polish house for exceptions, or you pretty easily whip up your own in magicavoxel.

The only thing i want from this game is structural integrity physics as an ON and OFF feature. Not being able to watch how buildings and other structures are collapsing under their own weight is the only thing holding this game from being perfect at least for me. Modders have done something like that, but i don't think they can reach same levels of spectacle and optimization as original dev can.

Without subtracting anything to the original ahestetics, which I dig, I think that if there were some sort of polygonal graphics overlay, it would work wonders in making Teardown a more mainstream game. Like, keep the voxels for simulation, and hide them inside standard polygonal models. It would be like 2021's Crysis. Again, this is just a fantasy of mine and Teardown is already fantastic as is :)

what we really need in terms of modding is the ability to spawn vox objects atm to do that you gotta hide the objects under the map to make it seem like your spawning stuff when your not actuall doing so im pretty sure this is the same trick used for those mods that allow you to shoot planes also if im not correct alot of tools still arnt accessible to mod.

I feel the game still doesn't feel right; but idk if that's intended or its an engine limitation. Objects feel weightless, when you hit a tower from below on one side, it just falls towards it, that isn't right; it should crumble on itself. The after fall superior portion will still be intact and in its place like it has no weight to pull it down. This applies to every destructible. That's why outside raytracing on mode, the immersion is absent, it feels like another minecraft for me at least

There are a few mods which make changes to the way things break and helps with the one voxel support beam thing. The one I use is "Structural Integrity & Collateral Damage System".
