I just want to say... THANK YOU! I NEVER understood math. I took the practice test before starting to study to see where I was at and I got a 43% in math. After moving through HALF of your videos of the chapters I retook - just see get a feel for where I was at and I got a 73%!!! I have been holding back applying for this nursing course for years because I was afraid to fail at the Math portion..... THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! From me and my daughter.

Could how you explain how this is a negative coorelation: As weather gets colder, air conditioning costs decrease. I am having a hard time visualizing how this is a negative correlation since aren't both decreasing? My professor is also saying it is a positive and that other sources are wrong.

It is positive if the temp drops and the air conditioning costs drop. For it to be negative, we could say as the temp drops, the heating bill increases.

I have a question about number 2 on M.2.3 section! It is about the relationship between the radius of the circle and the area of the circle. Option 3 indicates that the points on the graph should be connected with a straight line to show that they represent variables. I thought this was correct, but it says the graphs would be curved because the area is growing by multiplication. Can you help e to understand this explanation ?? Thank you

Which manual is this from? The particular year of the study guide makes a difference sometimes.

I came across this problem on my TEAS study manual for this section: "During the 20th century, economists noticed a relationship between the length of women's skirts & the stock market. Ask the length of skirts became shorter, the stock market tend to go up (*Would this be considered, negative covariance since one variable decreases, and the other variable increases?) And as the hemline fell, so did the stock market (Positive covariance?). No one means to suggest that one caused the other. Certainly changing fashions are not the cause of the volatility of the stock market. Even though there is not a causal relationship, the parameters follow the same general trend lines. Which of the following sentences best describes the relationship? A. The two parameters show positive covariance B. The two variables are constants and represent find points in time. *(Definitely not this because they are not constants)* C. The length of a fashionable skirt is the dependent variable. *(Not this one because the stock market depends on the length of skirt) D. The two parameters are inversely related. (I thought the answer would be this because for the first part, negative covariance was indicated?) Not so sure... hope you are able to help me!

D would be the correct answer. As the the length goes down, the stocks go up. "Dropping the hemline" means the dresses got longer, and the stocks went up. That is still an inverse relationship which implies a negative relationship (or correlation). Hope that helps!

Got it, I had no idea "dropping the hemline" meant an "increase." Thanks so much! Hmm... I think we both got this problem mixed up. The correct answer in the ATI Study Manual (Practice Problem #1 from M.2.3) is A. I think by "the length of the skirt becoming shorter" this also means "dropping the hemline," not decreasing in number. As a result, this would make A the correct answer. What a tricky question!

I disagree with that answer in the book because "as the length of the skirts become shorter, the stocks go up". In all honesty, this question stinks! :)

The answer is A because they both showed similar covariance.
