Chief Thomas ‘Carib’ Warner (b. 1630, d 1674) of Waitukubuli (Dominica), was the half Kalinago & half English 'bastard' son of the first English Colonist in the Caribbean - Sir Thomas Warner (b. 1580, d. 10 March 1649), he was loved by his father (despite his father capturing his Kalinago mother and forcing her to become his concubine) but despised by his father's English wife & step-mother and his 18 years older brother Phillip - who both saw him as a half-breed Indian bastard and disgrace to the white family. When his father died he was only a boy of 13 in St Kitts (then Saint Christopher island, originally 'Liamuiga' in Kalinago), and he fled the abuse of his white relatives - which he never forgot - and found his way back to his mothers Kainago people on the West Coast of Dominica, where he rose to prominence in his young adulthood and became their greatest leader in the war to save Dominica from European colonization, in 1664 he led 600 Kalinago warriors to do battle in St Lucia - where they completely eliminated the French colonial forces and presence there, it was after this resounding Kalinago victory that the English in Barbados realized how powerful he was - and how important it would be to have him as an ally against the French, and so they appointed him as Lieutenant Governor of Dominica in 1665 as a form of 'flattery-bribe' grandiose title, but he was wise and saw through this. However, the English in Antigua (where his English half brother Phillip was now Governor) hated him, and when the Great Chief led an attack against the Antigua English Colonists in 1674, his older half-brother Phillip led a counterattack on Dominica soon thereafter, and under the guise of coming to make peace and make amends with his Kalinago half-brother so unjustly wronged in his youth, Phillip invited the Chief and his top war leaders onto the English vessel - 'for a celebration, but then, once the Chief and his men were intoxicated, the coward Phillip and his men attacked the unsuspecting drunken Kainagos and murdered them, then, as if this cowardly treachery was not enough, Philip and his men went ashore and murdered every single Kalinago man, woman, and child that they found asleep in the village of the Great Chief, only a few escaped alive by running into the forest, including one of the sons of the great chief.
Nevertheless, it is thanks to him, Great Kalinago Chief Thomas 'Carib' Warner, that the proud and unconquered Kalinago people remain in Dominica to this day - with an officially demarcated and recognized autonomous Territory of their own, for the blood of this great man still flows in their veins. They are the ONLY indigenous people in the entire Caribbean, who were never militarily conquered by any European power in the dark and evil first centuries of European illegal invasion, annexation, and forced colonization of the Caribbean. This film will shine an eternal light of respect and admiration for the life of the most successful Indigenous anti-Imperialist Freedom Fighter of the Caribbean and his people who remain with us as a proud living testimony to their heroic ancestors
