Agree! Don't go past 1/2 way on the knob with the lid closed. Agree! Fished cooked with too much heat. Cook fish at the low (*) setting. @Manstersr, watch for rust and cracked burners when buying these grills used. Replacing a rusted grill body and grease pans is about $350 in parts. Expect to replace the grills, burner clamps and burners every 10 years or so.

I read the manual on the patio II which can be downloaded for free and it tells you not to turn the burners to high or past the * mark on the knobs if you close the top or it can cause the ceramic grid of the burner to crack. He has the grids upside down to hold the drippings and keep the flare ups to a minimum. Also according to the manual. Dude, you burnt the hell out of that fish. :) I'm going to buy one of these used for $500.

I paid $1900 for the grill, cover, side shelves, rotisserie, baking and BBQ tray in 2001. The BBQ tray warped when I forgot to refill it with water.

A great grill, however what needs to be considered and not mentioned by dealer, those glass panels only last 2-3 years (Company estimate) before breaking. The panels currently (2019) cost $110 plus shipping. I purchased a G-Series 11/2003 and have replaced 10 thermal glass plates. The grill gets little use, two people at a second home. This has only been an inconvenience in that the "Life time warranty" covered all but shipping for 16 years. What you are grilling must be discarded due to embedded glass shards. My warranty has reached the end of life apparently. TEC no longer will honer the warranty and I must pay for replacement glass. This significantly increases grilling cost beyond what I feel is reasonable, I will sell my G3.

I just got a TEC Patio I but I can't find any info on it other than sites for replacement parts. It was very well taken care of and all burners and other parts replaced with new ones (the whole thing looks new) but I just can't seem to find any info on it anywhere. Plenty of info on this Patio II here, but not on the Patio I.

The grates go with the channels facing up to catch the grease. Also there is a hole on one end of the channel which should go the front. The grease runs into the grease and drops into the removable drip tray. Very good design.
