For officials, this is a great example of why not to turn your back to players on the floor after a foul. Dead ball officiating is critical, especially after hard fouls.

FromTheOfficial exactly!!! I have been officiating for 15 years now. I also can't understand why the ball was live on the drive one official who looked as if should have been the new lead is at the teams bench and the new trail runs past him along with the C running in on the play. As officials we have to manage games so that they do not get out of hand. I know it happens but too many times after you watch the tape I see areas where officials could have done better and the game not got to that point.

In regards to the new lead being at the team bench, it looks as if he got cut off by/ran into a benched player (I've done it myself a few times because our courts have very little bench room and if a player stands up at the wrong time, they're right in your path) and that kind of drew his attention away from the game for a second. As for the trail official running in, I think he panicked and because there was no official in lead, went into auto pilot, almost taking the form of 2 man officiating by the look of it. He did, however, make a huge mistake when he walked straight to the bench and turned his back on the play. I'm not as seasoned as you are, but I still have nearly 6 years under my belt and I still remember one of the first things my mentor told me, apart from "never turn your back on play", was "when you call a foul, hesitate before walking over to signal to the bench to ensure nothing happens behind your back, and always rotate directly opposite your partner". There were quite a few mistakes made here, also a bit of bad luck though :P Side note: We usually only run 2 man unless it's a domestic/state tournament due to a lack of officials... and player ability

Credit to #4 Orange for being a peacemaker by pulling him teammate away from the potential fight that could have gone on. Way to be a Leader out there young man.

The trail to lead official that was run into by Red #4 sort of threw things out of whack on this play. I believe that the center went on auto pilot to report the foul. normally c is the guy that cleans up this crap before it starts.

I agree that was a key to the beginning of this turning into a mess. This official was inadvertently bumped by red #4 because the official had misjudged his route to the opposite baseline. He was running too close to the bench and had to pause to adjust his route. And he adjusted into the route taken by red #4 who was only a step or so away running at full speed. Then a hard foul occurred, and the crew was scrambling on how to best cover the situation. Because of this, I have to say kudos to the two head coaches, who stayed calm and listened to the officials as they tried to sort it all out.

Body by Fisher; brain by Fisher-Price. Teenage boys may be the size of full-grown men, but mentally & emotionally they're often still children. Officials have to learn to deal with that dichotomy.

It should have been intentional foul, the lead officials should never turn his back to the players. Then the referee shoot all tech fouls so what about the two shot on the foul.

Flagrant and gone 23 orange for the original foul. 33 orange was ejected, and I'm not sure if that's just TWO free throws. Guy effectively commits three T's in about 5 seconds. The shove through, the taunt, AND the second shove. I'd call three T's on him. And 54 White for his shove. So shoot 10 free throws (8 white, 2 orange), check possession.

They are so bad - girls freshman game is where they belong. Three man crew and they can't get the basics right. I'd go through it but why bother. I would have called a body foul on the initial block and NONE of this would have happened. Too much contact and the reason why the block was possible. New lead gets caught up on the sideline, are you kidding? He's got to be in front of the play. Hard foul, at least one official should be right on this. The Center official is late, the Trail comes all the way to make the call - the Trail is the fool who missed the original call. Oh my,. It just gets worse from here. The Lead comes off the entanglement to kick out a player? What is going on? Who trains these fools? I want my money back

I can definitely see the no call on the block at the begin. He jumps almost straight up/ does jump straight up, the ref has his own angle, he probably sees it as clean. Imo it’s a good no call. Even if it should be a block, you have that 1 in 100 calls that you just see wrong, even the best refs can miss this which could lead to the following situations. (In the NBA/ FiBa there are also fights, so you can’t say you would 100% avoid it). Coming from a national ref in Europe
