Technique Tuesday: Armpit Breath
A great way to check in and explore rib expansion.
When we’re standing neutrally (or normally) we dont necessarily realize how much we can get those ribs to move.
The breath stretch spreading your arms helps us give the ribs more natural mobility so you can find the more extreme ends of your range.
Then bring it back to your normal standing position and use some resistance from your arms to feel that same breath under the armpits.
The next challenge: keep that expansion as you sing! You can use the sternum or collar of your shirt as an added check point to see if you are letting your ribs collapse.
