In Understanding Comics, Scott McCloud says that most of the magic in comics happens in between panels, in the gutters, where "closure" takes place. Duy Tano illustrates that point here with three Calvin and Hobbes strips by Bill Watterson, dated November 21, 1985, February 5, 1989, and January 28, 1995.
