Fine tip bottle :

There are 4 techniques that I am about to describe in this video.
The first technique is the easiest way of creating designs using stencils.
The important thing to remember while stenciling is take very small amounts of paint and move the brush in a circular fashion.
If you don't have a proper brush you can use a piece of sponge. Again take very small amounts of paint in the sponge and tap it very gently on the stencil.
You can even use multiple colors while doing the stencil work. You need to first decide on the colors for every pattern in your stencil.
The second technique is also with stencils. but here I am using the stencil only as a template for the patterns. I am using a fine tip bottle for this method.
I bought these bottles from amazon. Fill these bottles with paints of your desired colors. Now place the stencil. Then using the bottles outline the patterns in the stencil to your desired colors. I am using only white for the outline. I plan to use the other colors to fill the design.
The third technique is the combination of first and the second techniques. I first directly stencil the pattern on the surface using different colors.
Later outline the pattern using the fine tip bottle.
If you are working on a bigger surface you may need breaks to rest your fingers. Keeping the bottle squeezed for prolonged periods may hurt your fingers.
The forth technique is also an easy one but I mostly use this only for making pulli kolam motifs using acrylic marker pens.
These pens are available in all colors. But traditionally pulli kolam also known as sikku kolam is in all whites with a dark background.
The strokes run through a series of dots arranged in a square or rhombus shape. All sikku kollams follow a pattern. If you are a beginner you should first practice tracing the pattern by following the strokes around the dots.
I am using a ruler to mark the dots to be equidistant from each other and the design pattern symmetric. Practice it in a piece of paper before attempting on your furniture. Lots of kolam patterns are available in the internet.
Now I have four pieces of these wooden surfaces with motifs using different techniques. I am going to fix this wooden tile on a long wooden board using glue gun or wood glue.
After sticking the pieces I am attaching a saw tooth hook on the back. Now it is ready to go on the wall.
