Just started using this model and I really like it. I usually do a manual pour-over, and I bought this just to play with. I'm getting really nice extractions, especially considering how fast the the thing is. Very impressive little unit. Cleanup is really quick, too. I like that I can just load to water, load the coffee, hit the switch and then focus on making my eggs instead of babysitting a manual pour. Small counter footprint, looks great...what's not to like?

We've had a Moccamaster for at least 3 years, its been great. I think the < $100 coffemakers use steel (or other) heating elements that calcify over time, so you're brews only taste acceptable for the first 6 months. The Moccamaster (and other high end models) have copper heating elements that don't ruin the taste.

I just bought this model yesterday and the water outlet pipe is disappointing. I only brew 4-6 cups and the right side of the brew basket has dry grounds after the brew process ends. The outlet pipe is too short to properly wet all the grounds. Maybe it works better when using a full pot, but I'm quite disappointed that my old $50 Cuisine Art with with a single outlet hole did a better job saturating the brew basket then the KBGV Select.

I have exactly the same one. It's globally a good product, BUT: - The water shower is too short and pours mainly in the first 2/3 of the coffee bed. So, to compensate, I do not look for a flat coffee bed but with a slightly hill towards the water container. Otherwise the brew results underextracted. - Washing the paper requires to remove the water shower (unless you add additional water to wash your paper, but I do weight the water in, so I don't use the brewing water to wash the filter paper). It's bad design IMHO. - Washing the filter basket could be neglected by some users because it's black. Should be white so you see that it's time for some Pulycaff 😂 You affirm your brew is so good, just poured and so hot. I don't believe you can jutge a brew is still at 90°C... Come on! 🤔

Great review. I own an old version without the "Select" circuit. I just learned about it a few minutes ago on KZitem. If a Technivorm coffee maker has the switch is that mean it is a "Select" ? BTW, the coffee basket top cover is the first one to remove and the last one to install. You could do it the way you did, but it looks awkward and could drop on the floor and get kinda messy.

The idea is that is this way the water has more time to brew the coffee. Since you have less water if it drains too quickly you may end with a “less strong” coffee.

I own one and I mosty make at least two cups of coffee with it. Even on slow / half cup it's a bit too fast to really let all the flavours out. If you only want to make one cup each time, you could indeed have a look at the one cup model. If you sometimes want to be able to make more coffee, you could however use this one and for one cup, turn in on without a pot, wait a bit, stir the coffee when it's wet and then put the pot under there. This way you give it a bit more time to develop. Works for me. Greetings from one of your favourite countries on earth. I hope you'll manage to visit The Netherlands one day.

Wrong. If you fill 500 ml of water in the tank, the half pot setting takes about 1 min longer than the full pot setting with 500 ml . I tested it. I think it’s achieved by a slightly lower temperature of the heating element. The water still has the same temperature but it runs slower.

Yeah, not really. If you do that, there is not enough time for the full flavour to come out of the coffee. I've tried it. With the selector on half pot (which is really not a great name for this) it slows down the flow of water whilst keeping the temperature from both the brewer and the plate on a perfect level. You can also use this if you have a wrong grind. It gives you basically an extra option to play with. I guess you never tasted coffee from this machine. I am 47 and I really like coffee. I have and had expensive machines, I've tried all kinds of things and made delicious coffee through the years. But it never could level the coffee I tasted when I was around 16 years old and when my mother would take me to a certain diner during shopping. When I got older I thought well, I guess it's also the memory what makes it great. No lie, but when I got my Moccamaster the very first cup of coffee I had tasted like I was 16 years old again, sitting with my mother in that diner. And that same experience I am having every day since and most of these machines last for 15 years or longer without losing temperature, so I will be able to enjoy it for a long time. How many cheap $50-60 coffee machines which tastes nothing like this, will a lot of people use in those 15 years? I bought it for the quality, taste but also because I want to reduce waste and I don't want to spend money any more on not great stuff to be disappointed again. If this machine indeed lasts me that long, it has cost me less than 14 euro per year, so around 1 euro per month for the best coffee I can imagine.
