It was a very factual portrayal that didn't glorify him at all and actually taught me a lot about not trusting people. That being said, my mom has been telling me lately that, with all of the hype around Ted Bundy given the 'anniversary' of whatever (his death maybe?) she's worried that some sick person is going to see that and try to do better than him. I don't live in the U.S right now but she said that he's been all over with people calling him 'the best serial killer' and stuff like that. It seems like a really bad idea to glorify someone who was a complete monster like that.

I'm so glad that Kim had such good friends in her short life. I think it's wonderful that they have kept her memory alive. She's the one who's death affected me the most...so young and innocent. What would she have done with her future if she'd been allowed? Sounds like she would have done great things. My heart breaks for her family and friends all over again. Rest in Peace sweet little angel...😢

My family and I moved to Lake City in 1988, my brother was born there in 1989! My sister and I both attended jr high/high school there and this incident was very much a part of everything that we did at school! Her memory and the circumstances behind her death was never forgotten😥

I hope she found peace. I wasn’t around when it happened, but I feel like I would’ve loved to be her friend. I read a lot about this case and Lynette’s case, both 12 and victims of Bundy) it made me cry so many times. I fell into a depression really

Also, here's another thing: If you want ppl to remember Kimberly, you need to be willing to tell ppl Kimberly's life story. The fact that her parents and friends didn't talk about her that much to the media, prevents ppl from being able to learn about her. Ted's family didn't hold back. If you want the focus to shift over to Kimberly then you need to tell stories about Kimberly and her life.

It’s always good to remember the good and the bad. The good, to keep their memories alive and to spread their story. The bad, to learn from it, to educate ourselves and our children in an effort to avoid history repeating itself. Ted Bundy is a particularly important story to tell. Most people imagine that serial killers are ugly and void of charm. This keeps reminding us and keeps teaching younger generations that a “handsome, charming” young man is not exempt of being a psycho. Specially in this age of dating websites.

She was just 12 years old and taken from school. Kim never had a chance to grow up. She would be grown up now and living her life with her friends and family. She certainly was a beautiful girl. I wasn’t even born yet when she was alive but I feel like I knew her a little bit just through how her friends talked about her.

That's wonderful that all these years later her classmates still come to her grave and remember her. Aside from the horror story of Ted Bundy murdering her, that is, that people still will take the time out to show their love of her and one another. It's rather sad today - once someone dies or even as something as small as you graduate from a school or leave a job that others just forget about you and move on. I find that to be very disheartening about people now, but these who come to her grave every year are caring enough to maintain their love for her and each other.

Amen ladies. What a beautiful tribute to an innocent loving girl who was but a child at the beginning of her life. Never forget her as she was. That monster has had FAR too much of the world's attention. We need to just let God punish now. Thank you for sharing this. She was 5 yrs younger than me and the very next year I gave birth to my own beautiful child. I cannot fathom her loss from her families perspective. God be with them and all of you as well.🙏💔😇😍

I never knew her, but I will never forget her. Seeing that picture of her.. such a beautiful and innocent child and knowing the horrific way that she died is something I can't get out of my head. It stays with you. It makes me hate Ted Bundy even more. I used to oppose the death penalty, but Kimberly's story changed my mind. I could never look this child's mother in the eye and say Ted Bundy deserves to live.

I was in eighth grade in the same school as Kimberly in the seventh grade that day at Lake City Junior High. She had forgotten her purse in her last period class. She went around to the back of the building called 'Central' to get to the class in which she left it. There was a side street that ran closely behind the building. She never made it into the building. A man called her attention to his vehicle for directions, etc. She innocently got too close to try to help him. The entire school was granted an excused absence the day of her funeral. I sat in the balcony of the large Parkview Baptist church with standing room only. Two-thirds of the main floor pews were filled with law enforcement. Years later, I discovered that Kimberly's parents lived 2 blocks from me on Monroe St. at the time of this murderous monster's execution. I drove by on that day and witnessed many news vans/reporters surrounding Tom, the father. As I witnessed him being interviewed, (by this time I had a daughter of my own), I felt my heart crush with sympathy. I knew it could've easily been me instead of Kimberly Diane Leach that day. Parents; please drill into your children about stranger danger, and the fact in these days and times, sadly, you must never let your guard down. The year after we buried our dear Kimberly, 6+ ft chain link fences went up around every school in our county, plus housing for on-campus law enforcement on each campus to provide 24 hr security. Sad ending to an innocent era.
