I think NFT art will become truly valuable when the biggest platforms around will implement them. How? Imagine Facebook, Google & Twitter will display the NFT for images on their platform - whenever an image pops on your newsfeed or google search, it will also include a tagline like "This image was created by ____ and its owned by ___". That's when the value will become real.

The problem is that while you CAN make an ownership token RARE by simply using a very large random number to identify it, you cannot make the digital artwork itself unique in any sort of visually meaningful way which cannot be copied. So the challenge is precisely that you have to get people to consider the token valuable rather than the imagery itself. An impossible feat IMO. And you don't need a blockchain to authenticate an artwork. The market has many other ways to do that which work perfectly fine. I'm not saying the tokens won't be traded for value, but I'm just saying this isn't solving any real problem.
@curiousnomad
3 жыл бұрын
So what am I missing- instead of a painting I live with I’ll need a screen on the wall displaying a digital image? And it’s only uniqueness is the digital identification stored in the blockchain? I’m trying to see how this is better. Of course, you can’t forge a completely unique identifier, but if it’s a digital image that in itself is not unique. Please help me here... There’s something about looking at brush strokes and knowing a human created that beautiful object that I can now experience as art.
@BloodMonkeysUnited
3 жыл бұрын
@@curiousnomad maybe you shouldn't think of it as replacing the beauty of a painting. Imagine anyone could masterfully recreat a painting you love, every stroke perfectly recreated so no one alive could tell the difference, would you value knowing which is the original if you wanted to own one? Of course you would. Because there is an inherent value in an indelible link to the artist. There is a massive community of digital artists who's work up until now lacked this important artifact. It's not about brush stroke vs pixel, it's about the value of indelible ownership and link to a piece of art and the artist.
@MayaNirwan

@Kane Sillifant Exactly!!!
@joefunk76
3 жыл бұрын
@@BloodMonkeysUnited As the OP wrote, the challenge here is to get most people to mentally tether the token to the art. Once the art is digital, be it music or something visual, any digital copy is fully indistinguishable from the original and therefore identically as enjoyable to consume as the original. From a consumption standpoint, NFTs are worthless for music or art. That leaves the ownership standpoint as the remaining potential source of value in NFTs. I can see some kind of limited use for this now although very limited given the lack of infrastructure. However, if our future society comes to recognize NFTs as the ownership deed for any piece or art and grants official rights and business contracts based on NFT ownership, then I can see a case for using them and owning them.

That's pretty interesting but also very weird. A panting is unique by its own nature, while this is like a process to make computer art "artificially" unique so it is valuable enough to get sold like a painting. It's not about making art, it is about selling it. It's sounds good for the computer artists who have the chance to sell their digital art like a painter do, and to get the respect they deserve as artists. but as I write this, I am pretty sure that Caravaggio is rolling in his grave

@@Maintainmotion its pretty easy u can upload any picture u just have to pay a gas fee to put it up might be around 100bucks depends cuz gas prices pretty high but art from established artist or high quiality will have MASSIVE value in the future
