Yes, from an interview I heard Simone had just finished her first trimester, (3 months pregnant), @ the time of this amazing "10th year Celebration Concert". Also, from what I've heard, pregnancy effects/alters one's vocals, all I know is Simone & Floor both sound great here & you can see the genuine admiration for each other on stage exchanged between both of them.

@@aryansigrid While this is generally true, Simone and Floor both prooved that it does not apply to them 😄🤘🏻. For Floor's proof I recommend "Oi Jouluyö" (O holy Night with Finnish lyrics) from her 2016 performance at Raskasta Joulua (Heavy Christmas). She was 6 months pregnant then, and it seems not to have the slightest effect to her vocals.

SO..... Epica... First: Simone Simons + Floor Jansen = POWER COMBO Epica is Epic (well deserved name for the band). Singers name is Simone Simons , and she and Floor are good friends (they are both Dutch) and both classically trained . WHEN Epica hit hard, they are heavier than Nightwish. But they also have some really beautiful, soft and tender ballads. And they often ”cover themselves” in completely different styles (jazz, Irish folk, klezmer…). Epica fan's are Epicans .

Floor and Simone have been friends for a long time, so they are really enjoying being on stage together. Another Easter egg, if you will: the keyboardist, who is one of the founders of Epica, used to be in Floor's earliest band After Forever. And his last name is also Jansen, but no relation. It is his voice you hear at the end calling out Floor's name. Great reaction! I knew you'd enjoy this one!

Hang on - the keyboardist, confusingly Coen "Janssen" rather than Jansen - wasn't in AF. It was guitarist/growler Mark, a proper "Jansen", who was in AF. I think that's what you meant, because it's Mark having a good shout afterwards.

Just as a tip to make your life a bit easier. You can pause and resume the video with the space bar or with the K key on your keyboard. With the key J you can rewind 10 seconds and with L you can skip forward 10 seconds. So for reaction videos it's very easy to use the keys J, K and L to navigate videos. It's faster and more precise than doing it with the mouse. You can also use the arrow left and right keys to rewind/skip 5 seconds. If you clicked the volume bar before that, arrow keys change the volume by 5% per key press. And lastly, when pausing you should always rewind a few seconds (J key) to not miss transitions or changes. Best wishes from Switzerland

I often wonder, if not for symphonic metal, what would sopranos do? :D I mean , they look so happy and free in that enviroment that is hard to think that they would chose theater life. In Mayan's "Rebirth from despair" Live, there are also some soprano singers giving their best if you can watch it.

Hi Aaliyah, Thank you for another great reaction. Another singer I'm absolutely great singer I'm sure you'll adore is K D Lang. She has one of the purest and best voices ever. Two absolutely outstanding performances are her cover of Leonard Cohen's "hallelujah" at the 2010 opening of the winter Olympics in Vancouver and "crying" by Roy Orbison at his memorial concert at the Universal Amphitheatre Los Angeles. Roy said of KD, that "she had the best pipes ever" quite the compliment, when Elvis Presley said that Roy was the only man he would never follow on stage. Roy is also well worth reacting too, other than crying his most famous songs are "in dreams" and "pretty woman", which I'm sure you know from then Richard Gere film of the same name.

It is so wonderful to see the eyes of an upcoming classically trained singer grow wide with appreciation. Metal has so much to offer. It (metal) could become an extension for the ongoing existence of live classical music. With the fortunes of classical music finding a more precarious perch, these days, no doubt the icons of the would reach out to bands such as Epica. WWMS (What Would Mozart Say) about Epica? Of all the memorable Mozart quotes, I dare say he would NOT re-use his criticism of Muzio Clementi, hypothetically-paraphrased as follows : " (Epica) plays well, as far as execution with the right hand goes. (Their) greatest strength lies in their passages in thirds. Apart from that, (they don’t) have a Kreuzer’s worth of taste or feeling. In short, They are a mere robot.”" I think Mozart (who was very open to adopting and incorporating different styles and forms as he encountered them) would be found outside the doors of many of today's bands. ... and I would love to read the notation-style he would develop to put a composition for, say, Lorna Shore, and the vocal talents of Will Ramos.
