this is a very sexy song. the first time i heard it, i was about 14. the music was so soothing and her vocals were polarizing.

What a truly amazing album and so underrated. This became my Christmas present to myself because it's hard to find but thank GOD for Amazon.com. Passion Play was to me a follow-up to the emerging passion from her last album "EBONY" on Epic which didn't show any love or respect to "LADY TEE" at her untimely passing. Check out that cut "Since Day One" produced by Jazzie B and hear the sensuality within that song, just pure raw "TEENA MARIE".

For some reason, I believe that her fan based has loved her more than any other singer. For instance, I saw her when I was in Vegas one year. When I heard that she was going to be in my hometown the next week, I went to see her all over again. Just couldn't get enough even though I played her music just about every single day. When she passed, so many people called me to see how I was doing, to give ME their condolences and express how much they loved her too. She was in my soul & still is.

@Memelisciousxoxox You're absolutely right that Motown didn't know how to market her back in the day. Barry Gordy was too busy trying to go mainstream with the movie business instead of concentrating on his strengths which was music. He left people in charge who clearly didn't know how to put her out there. She was there for 3 years before her first album came out and I can't even imagine the frustration she felt.

Same here. I have to give props to my mom who passed away on July 22, 2013 for turning me onto her music. Every time I play her music, I think of her. Even she even played Rick James. I have almost every CD by this wonderful lady. I need this album, ivory, Congo Square, and Ladonia. Oh! I can’t forget about her album from if I can remember 1986 called Emerald City. The albums I do have is lady t, irons in the fire, it must be magic, and robbery. And I have to get her debut album from 1979 produced by Rick James called wild and peaceful. Wait! I forgot one album that I need from 1984. Starchild.

@kahmncntz29 I think that deep down inside Gordy and the other motown artists with the exception of Diana Ross, Rick James, and Smokey Robinson didn't want her to succeed on their label and made it impossible for her to even get to a good label. Teena was cheated, Yes Indeed.

@kahmncntz29 I could only imagine as well. Everyone focus on her race and her entire career was built on race which is sad. In every interview she's done she always talks about how it is to be a white artist singing "black" music when really there is no way to sing a colour of music. Can you imagine how many people must have put her down because of it? It's sad. Epic was always a bad company to everyone on it.. She also shouldn't have gone with "Cash Money" classics.
@MelizzardQueen

@kahmncntz29 of course not, epic is a horrible company and barry gordy could have marketed her a whole lot better. I think a lot of other artists were mad that a white woman was singing "their" music. motown focused too much on her colour not her voice.

@Memelisciousxoxox I do see what you did with "YES INDEED" just our girl's favorite song of all she's ever written and performed. Personally I think she did a much better job on "TUNE IN TOMORROW" vocally but I guess she was thinking more musically. Patrice Rushen knocked it out of the park on the piano on that cut. Teena Marie always respected awesome musicianship and vocals. People put labels on people but never "THE ALMIGHTY" and that was our "LADY TEE'S mindset.

@kahmncntz29 I wasn't a huge fan of "Yes Indeed" I do like it don't get me wrong it's just I won't play that song a lot. TUNE IN TOMORROW is my absolute favorite slow song by her. You're right about that though she did a much better job. I didn't know Patrice Rushen was playing the piano. so true. Somebody called me stupid because I said "I always knew she was white" Don't really know how that makes me stupid lol she just didn't sound "black" to me. haha
