I imagine a lot of them choose that field strictly to be able to deliver babies. As far as positive interactions with doctors, that one's gotta be near the top, if not far and away #1. Like, I can imagine if I ever had some kind of life saving surgery that might come close, but nah, seeing my son for the first time will always rank supreme. My wife's obgyn, also a guy, is normally pretty awkward and dry, but when he was delivering our babies he was completely different, super upbeat and cracking jokes. It was pretty obvious that was his favorite part of the job.

@@charitym1277 No, not all gynecologists are OBGYNs, but every OBGYN is gynecologist. Just like not every MD is a surgeon, but every surgeon is an MD. Edit: However - Yeh, pretty much anyone, from a gynecologist to your average 10 year old, can deliver a baby so long as we're not getting into cesarian sections.

I had a similar experience. I was having so many issues and saw only women gynos for decades. None of them would listen to me. I got so desperate that when I friend recommended a male gyno, I figured it wouldn't hurt. He is a kind soul who actually LISTENED to me AND helped me find relief. I had a two procedures done in one operation, and my life is infinitely better for it. She came in for her shift later while we were still in the hospital & not once did she check on me or my mom. For my sister my mom went with a male gyno that delivered her friends 3 babies & her other friend’s baby & he ended up saving her life. Twice over actually.
