The whole Temple of the Dog album shows Cornell's vocal range and ability in a way that you don't get in a soundgarden or audioslave album. This song in itself shows a great range from him almost talking to nearly screaming. Has to be in the discussion of greatest singers of all time without a doubt.

@@marknewsome251 Wrong MOTHER LOVE BONE was what spawned Pearl jam. When Andrew Wood od from heroin Eddie came up from San Francisco and took over vocals. I never liked Eddie vedder much but I respected his talent. I met him a few times and he was an arrogant little man.

FYI... just in case any of you didn't know... Chris did this cd "Temple of the dog" as a tribute to Andrew Wood, his best friend, lead singer for the Seattle band, Mother Love Bone, Unfortunately, Andrew died of a heroin overdose. Mother Love Bone was an Amazing band, please everyone, if you like this kind of music, go check out some Mother Love Bone on here, you won't regret it! IT ROCKS! R.I.P. Amazing sometimes, how a song can follow one on a journey and have its meaning change over time. Thirty years ago, this was a favorite track from the TotD album. I'd sing along to it (or try to, as I could) and I could feel the intensity and sorrow that Cornell brought to the words. Even if it was something external to me, I could get the meaning. Fast-forward a few decades. Cornell is now long gone, though his music and legend remain strong with those of us who carry it ahead. And the words to Call Me A Dog, at this stage in my own small world, almost feel like an epitaph.
