The Republic of Armenia is a country located in the Caucasus region whose capital is Yerevan. It has an area: 29,743 km2 and a population: 2,961,000 inhabitants. The majority religion belongs to the Armenian Apostolic Christian Church and they speak the Armenian language, which is the official language, and Russian, since the country belonged to the USSR.
According to the National Statistics Service of the Republic of Armenia, 10.4% of Armenian women married foreign men. The main countries of origin of the foreign bride and groom were:
Russia: 38.2%, United States: 15.6%, Georgia: 10.3%, Iran: 6.5% and Ukraine: 5.2%
The countries preferred by Armenian women to emigrate are Russia and the United States. The former is a popular destination due to geographic proximity, economic opportunities, and the presence of a large Armenian community. The second due to economic opportunities, quality of life and cultural diversity.
Among European countries, France, Germany, and Italy are also popular destinations for Armenian women due to economic opportunities, quality of life, and social security. Other Armenian women have wished to emigrate to Canada or Australia, for similar reasons.
Armenia is a parliamentary republic Member of: United Nations, Council of Europe, Collective Security Treaty Organization and the Commonwealth of Independent States and its current president is Vahagn Jachaturian, while the prime minister is Nikol Pashinian. Armenian Independence Day is September 21 and the currency is the Armenian Dram.
Armenia was the first country to adopt Christianity as its official religion in 301 AD. Mount Ararat, the highest mountain in Armenia and a national symbol, is considered the landing site of Noah's Ark according to the Bible, although it is in Turkish territory. Armenia is home to a unique ancient alphabet, the Armenian alphabet, which was created in the 5th century.
The capital of Armenia is Yerevan, a modern city with a population of approximately 1,100,000. Other important cities are Gyumri, Vanadzor and Goris. The majority of the population lives in the Ararat Valley, a fertile region located in the west of the country.
Armenia has a rich culture and history dating back thousands of years. The country is known for its music, dance, literature and architecture. Armenian culture has been influenced by its neighbors, such as the Greeks, Persians, Turks and Russians.
Armenia faces a number of challenges, such as poverty, corruption and dependence on remittances. The country also has a territorial conflict with Azerbaijan over the Nagorno-Karabakh region. This has isolated Armenia from its neighbors and hindered its economic development.
Among the Friendly countries of Armenia we have Russia, a historical ally of Armenia and has a strong military presence in the country. France is an important economic and cultural partner of Armenia. The United States is a major provider of financial and military aid to Armenia. Iran is an important neighbor of Armenia and has a large Armenian population while Georgia is an important neighbor and economic partner of Armenia.
Among the hostile or enemy countries are Azerbaijan, since Armenia has a territorial conflict with Azerbaijan over the Nagorno-Karabakh region, and Turkey, which does not recognize the Armenian genocide and maintains a closed border with Armenia.
According to the National Statistics Service of the Republic of Armenia, in 2022, 2.5% of Armenia's total workforce was made up of foreign workers. The main countries of origin of foreign workers were: Russia: 43.2%, Georgia: 18.6%, Syria: 11.9%, Ukraine: 8.1% and Iran: 6.2%
