I worked at a pizza shop with a young women when I was in college who HATED everything the Beatles did. She avidly disliked each and every track and loved letting people know. She was a big Country and Western fan... I believe she had to just be being a contrarian about it, but she really seemed to revel in the controversy this opinion inspired. Then again, my grandmother actively disliked all music, in general. She was much too simple a person to even consider something like a contrarian attitude about anything. She actually just did not like music at all. W...T...F???

The fact the George put in the love and effort to figure out the moog in 1969 with zero instructions, properly enough to use it on the record, really shows how cool he thought the technology was.

@@JamesMaharajOfficial There is a video somewhere on YT (I can't find it anymore) by some EMI Studios staff member saying that George's Moog actually broke down a bit: the envelope generator's "R" (release) curve would mistakenly affect the pitch instead of the volume. The intended effect of the "R" portion of the envelope is to gradually fade out the sound when the finger goes off the key. Makes sense. But what was happening was that the pitch would go doooooooown instead. They called in a Moog engineer to fix it (he happened to be still in London) but it took a few hours before he got there and in the meantime George had already found a nice "bug workaround": he incorporated this cool unintended glissando in the song.

Love how it follows "I Want You" on Abbey Road. It's the perfect lead-in. The riff at the end of John's tune is so heavy, and it goes on and on and on. Like an endless swamp of infinity. Then it finally ends and there's a moment of silence. Then George's opening guitar chords of "Here Comes the Sun." Utterly epiphanic. Every single time. God bless the Beatles!

Here comes the sun was one of the songs I sang as a lullaby when my daughter was a baby. When that baby came of age last November, she had he first alcoholic drink in The Cavern, as she had asked for. She doesn’t listen to the pop music of now, she would rather listen to The Beatles and Queen. We have seen tribute bands, including the amazing Bootleg Beatles. I must contribute a lot to the number of listens to Here Comes The Sun on Spotify UK, and Abbey Road generally. I have the mono cd set, but tend to use Spotify as it’s easier. All the music of The Beatles is on heavy rotation in this household and in my car.

My Here Comes The Sun story: When I was a kid, our Elementary school went through a phase where they let kids bring in 45 records or Albums and drop them off at the Principal’s office. About a week later your record would be announced and played over the school PA in the morning. Well, the other kids were bringing in current random pop crap from the late 70’s. LAME. So, to “school” them, I brought in HCTS! It A) had a morning theme, B) was the freakin BEATLES for Pete’s sake! So.... I waited to hear my awesome song played over the PA and reap the credit for enlightening my schoolmates...and I waited...and I waited...I was so bummed. Finally, 3 weeks later, I got a note to come to the office. They said “why haven’t you come up here to pick up your album? By the way, that was an excellent choice! The ‘grownups’ really enjoyed it.” It turns out they played my record the ONE day I was absent. D’oh!!! But as you can tell, I’m totally over it. Lol! 😂

Aw, man, if I could give you a hug right now I so would. I felt the joy - your joy - in doing what you're doing for us, that is, listening to music, talking about it, playing it, putting together these little nuggets of info about that musically magical happening called The Beatles, and though I know you already know it, we appreciate your videos and enjoy them. You really put your heart into this video; it felt like your most personal... offering, for lack of a better word. And yes, these have been precarious, unnerving times of late, but as the saying goes, fire turns iron into steel. We will come through this wiser and stronger and better than before, more conscious, more consciencious, more sensitive, caring and empathetic. The ultimate message of The Beatles was love - to be loving to each other and to ourselves, that at the end of the day, all we really need is... love. And you are spreading that love through these videos by reminding us of that love. After all, in the end, the love we take is equal to the love we make. So thanks, Mr. HollyHobs, we love you too.
