If you've ever served on a committee, organised a community event, or even just sat in a meeting, chances are you'll recognise one or more of the hilariously infuriating characters in Maskers' production of Ten Times Table. It's a story of ten misfit community members who are thrown together in a succession of planning meetings for a historical re-enactment of an event in their history. Tensions begin to rise between husband and wife, left-wing Marxist and right-wing councillor, siblings, lovers, and (slightly deaf) aged mothers, until the battle raging over the tea and biscuits threatens to overshadow the event itself.
Ayckbourn’s comedic mastery of class observations will make you squirm with horrified recognition as tensions over costumes, politics, and overzealous building work threaten to throw the entire event off kilter. It may just be a fete worse than death...
