@@katojimmybling I should have waited longer as per doctors advice in regards of waiting time to get back on a bike. I haven't fully healed yet, but I missed getting out riding. The old saying came into my mind: " Stuck between a rock and a hard spot " - along with my disappointment of what the doc said so I decided an easy / cruisy ride was worth it and I bit bullet so to say and got on the KTM 1090 Adventure R at 5:30am to be on time to meet the guys at the meeting point, about 2 -2.5 hours ride from home for me through fog, unfenced cattle farmers roads, high risk crash areas etc, but f_ck it, I like riding and I am glad i did, with little to no repercussions injury wise 👍 Not to mention I had a good day riding roads/ tracks I've never seen before. Its had valving changed in both ends dyno tuned slow it down stop it blowing through the stroke so ease firm up the high speed shim stack so it works like it should ,and heavier rear spring FFRC did the work ,cost was 600 + spring 210, i am 70kg in my gear and i fitted 8.0kg/mm shock spring , 10kg over my body weight so i can take tools tubes fuel and other shit i take on mostly day rides or 2 day pub stay rides,i set it up with zero preload on rear spring yet still correct sag ,then if i add more camping luggage i can crank up preload knob and clickers , that way when the bikes not loaded with all my camp gear the suspension remains active and works nice , not a firmed up lump high sprung setup up only for big loads , its a compromise ,if i was traveling a lot with big loads like a trip around oz i might put a 9.5kg/mm spring in it , but it would be to stiff unloaded for me ,so gotta set it up for what you intend to do mostly ,

Great video! About to get a T7 after having ATAS, at what weight would you recommend getting the rear shock done? I’m 82kg and often carry gear for overnighters
@AdventureMotoEnduro
4 жыл бұрын
All depends on what you intend to do with the bike ,, you need to consider a lot of things there is no one setup that will be perfect for big loads camping weeks away touring the country and then no load just you and the bike on a day ride with only tools tubes pump and lite bag of clothes mabie pub stay weekend ,,,,its all a compromise ,,you need to understand this , so what i do is set it up for the later with lighter load of 15kg over body weight with correct spring so the rider sag is close to perfict with no perload on the spring ,so 82kg + boots helmet jacket back pack or water hydration pack , tools tubes compressor tire levers so say 15kg on top of your body weight you want 9.5kg/mm rear spring , now if you were setting up for touring with added luggage you now need to increase pre load on rear spring knob preload ajuster to compensate and increase the damping clicker and rebound clicker ,

not all privet some yes ,most state forest ,,as for old roads pretty much if you know the area and what roads are gazetted through roads through cattle properties linking old towns ,lots of old roads unused since 60s as these were the main route between towns for horse and cart coban couch or stock muster trails and later early motorized verticals, also you see us open fences in what looks like scrub and jungle thats state owned or qld pine forest ,they lease out the forest to farmers to run cattle in and they put up fences ,and have feed bins in the forest ,
