"Allowed short barrel guns since 1934" Wrong. It attached an arbitrary tax under threat of up to 10 years in prison, and created an illegal federal registration of rifles with a 15 inch barrel since 1934 after americans were able to own such things for over 100 years prior without that regulation. In short: The NFA didn't "allow" anything. It just mandated a fee and registration under threat of prison for something you could have had before. It is no different than extortion, and does nothing for public safety when it just incentivizes people to get a longer, more powerful rifle, while placing an unecessary burden on smaller statured firearms owners/people who want a rifle they can manuver through a doorway with.

Then they would draw a conclusion and say, it doesn't sound to us they aren't any more dangerous or have any reason to be regulated. @The10thManRules

You don't necessarily want the media drawing conclusions. Drawing conclusions has the effect of telling people what to think. The medi should just report the news, and allows people to draw their own conclusions. Unfortunately, most people are not in control of their biases and assumptions, and are unable to think critically past their base needs. The 5 Steps to Critical Thinking: What is critical thinking? In general, critical thinking refers to actively questioning statements rather than blindly accepting them. Critical thinking results in radical free will. 1. The critical thinker is flexible yet maintains an attitude of healthy skepticism. Critical thinkers are open to new information, ideas, and claims. They genuinely consider alternative explanations and possibilities. However, this open-mindedness is tempered by a healthy sense of skepticism (Hyman, 2007). The critical thinker consistently asks, “What evidence supports this claim?” 2. The critical thinker scrutinizes the evidence before drawing conclusions. Critical thinkers strive to weigh all the available evidence before arriving at conclusions. And, in evaluating evidence, critical thinkers distinguish between empirical evidence versus opinions based on feelings or personal experience. 3. The critical thinker can assume other perspectives. Critical thinkers are not imprisoned by their own points of view. Nor are they limited in their capacity to imagine life experiences and perspectives that are fundamentally different from their own. Rather, the critical thinker strives to understand and evaluate issues from many different angles. 4. The critical thinker is aware of biases and assumptions. In evaluating evidence and ideas, critical thinkers strive to identify the biases and assumptions that are inherent in any argument (Riggio & Halpern, 2006). Critical thinkers also try to identify and minimize the influence of their own biases. 5. The critical thinker engages in reflective thinking. Critical thinkers avoid knee-jerk responses. Instead, critical thinkers are reflective. Most complex issues are unlikely to have a simple solution. Therefore, critical thinkers resist the temptation to sidestep complexity by boiling an issue down to an either/or, yes/no kind of proposition. Instead, the critical thinker expects and accepts complexity (Halpern, 2007). Critical thinking is not a single skill, but rather a set of attitudes and thinking skills. As is true with any set of skills, you can get better at these skills with practice. In a nut shell, critical thinking is the active process of minimizing preconceptions and biases while evaluating evidence, determining the conclusions that can be reasonably be drawn from evidence, and considering alternative explanations for research findings or other phenomena. CRITICAL THINKING QUESTIONS >Why might other people want to discourage you from critical thinking? >In what situations is it probably most difficult or challenging for you to exercise critical thinking skills? Why? > What can you do or say to encourage others to use critical thinking in evaluating questionable claims or assertions?

They discussed this during the 1934 NFA hearings. Congressmen asked AG Cummings about gangsters already breaking the law who will never follow it anyway. He said it was really meant to stop dads from giving their sons pistols, which of course would turn those boys into criminals some day. It's all in the 1934 NFA hearings if you read through them. Cummings was a low intellect DNC Chairman political zealot after campaigning for FDR in 1932. All of his premises were false. His arguments are some of the most preposterous I've ever heard.

@@blkft Yes. A local or state law enforcement agency can not arrest you for having an SBR in Tennessee. You would ONLY need to worry about federal law enforcement. That being said if Texas wins their case then you could build an 80 percent lower and stamp it “Made in Tennessee”. Then the feds could not touch you but that is only if Texas wins the case though they do have a great chance of winning.

Many of the firearms laws have no affect on safety. It doesn’t make sense to restrict something in the middle. Laws that say you can’t have a short barreled rifle, but a pistol or long gun is ok, is the equivalent to saying you can have a compact car or 18 wheeler, but not a minivan. The laws pushed or passed or only disguised as safety, but are actually just gradual bites to completely take something away.
