Good wake up call for a lot of us, thank you 😅 One similar question: when do you start preparing? When the ball crosses the net or even before?

As soon as you recognise the direction of the ball, see previous video: kzitem.info/news/bejne/14l7u4F7oImnqpw

I am always fast... as long as my stamina lasts!!! and with the split step, it usually doesn't last very long 😅

Keep pushing yourself always just a bit over your comfort zone and your body will gradually adapt and your stamina will increase.

Very much enjoying and learning a lot of this JUST IN CASE series. Maybe a series on defensive situations for the future?

Aren’t "just in case" ideas exactly what we need to be better in defense?

@@feeltennis yes, but in the situations where it's too late for just in case preparation 😂

It's never too late for preparation, that's why we do it "just in case". We prepare so early that we are ready no matter what kind of ball is coming to us. Perhaps you are referring to a ball where you have to hit it on the run, meaning there was still no time to set up with our feet? We always have time to prepare the stroke (meaning unit turn and short backswing) but obviously we don't always have time to position for the stroke if the ball was hit too far from us. If the latter is the case you want to know more about, check this video: kzitem.info/news/bejne/1YONx3irk4F1d6A. Or be more specific in what exactly you would like to know...

Nice video. How about a video on how to position yourself given the shot you just made? For instance, if you hit a good or bad drop shot, where should ideally defend this?

Recovery position will be covered in the next video but for your specific question where to position based on a drop shot, that's a very specific topic. It mostly depends on your skills. Are good with touch volley, lob volleys? If yes, you can move in to try and volley opponent's shot after they reach your drop shot. If you're not good with volleys and you're better with groundstrokes and lobs, then wait more around the baseline and use your strengths to play out the point.
