This is the best backhand two handed for spin so far..... I have been teaching tennis for 20 years and I am still learning since game is consitantly changing... Many players, even today hit backhand more flatter... Well, I am a big believer of hitting with topspin but as we all know with two hand backhand it is very hard to hit top spin due to two hands on racket and movement is limited.... and recently i found the biggest trip.... I told my student to hit backhand spin just like second serve.... second serve and ground stroke spin has very much same.... Both use windsheilp wiper swing and load from the body...and not to mention using left hand is the as key as it can get because if you use right and it blocks the swing..... and again because we use more wiper swing , yes stance will be more open and left leg will be the key leg... body will rotate along the left foot.... it is more like circular movement .... just like forehand and of course forehand is a lot easier to do than backhand... not many people can , or never taught this way... and this is the reason why club players never have backhand.... they all slice..... one thing this video is missing to how to take the racket back..... I like Djorkoivic and Nadal backahdn take back over Nishikori.... the reason is nowadays, we all wait with forehand grip and grip change for backhand is as critical as it can get.... if we watch Djorkoivc he use left hand to turn his grip and push the racket down instead of up and this is critical.. it goes down and up... unlike forehand up and down.....so does Nadal's... this is another reason many players do not have backhand.. So many coaches teach "Loop" on backhand and this is wrong.... there is no Loop on backhand.... it goes down and up.... so does Nalbandian's Generally tennis is not that difficult... just coaches do not teach correctly so it makes this game so difficult...... And yes i do admit teaching swing is very very difficult.. even those who know how to swing they can not explain..... Right now finally i figure out way djorkovic hit both forehand and backhand... and so does nadal.... there is no doubt that Djorkoivc and Wawarinka and so does Nishikori they all have slight different take back.... Djorkoivc racket goes up more like Nadal's Nishiori has Bolleri acamedy swing of more straight back... so does Wawarinka.. they are all great... but I like Djorkoivc and Nadal swing the best and so does their back hand... if you compare Djorkovic and Nadal... their swing is pretty similar.. both forehand backhand...... Personally... those people out there trying to learn.... I would look Djorkoivc forehand and backhand ... why not Roger federer? Federer has very conservative grip and for most players it is difficult to hit topspin.... Actually what federer does and his swing is not really "Common ATP Swing" most players racket face to back fence one of their swing but federer's doesn't because of his grip. I believe much easier to hit spin with more with Semi western grip..... It took almost 15 years to figure out the real best swing ... watching pro's swing 24 hours...... Personally none of the instructors really really pin point the exact swing or complete swing what pro's are doing.......

While in doubt, I tried this training out anyway since my two-handed backhand is really poor (totally unreliable) compared to my forehand. My left arm is a lot weaker than the right, perhaps a bit more than usual, due to an old injury. So, I thought I would not be able to hit a ball hard enough by the left arm. However, I soon realized that the newly learned left forehand with a short grip does better than the usual two-handed backhand. It was better in control for sure, but also better in strength, meaning my double-handed backhand was such a waste of energy. I've only tried this for 30 min or so, but looks like really working. Thank you for sharing this piece of wisdom.

Not saying it's the best, but Davydenko had some amazing top spin on his two hand backhand! Always loved seeing his amazing backhand cross court shots that would DIP down for a crazy angle. Figured I mention it since it relates to this video a lot! He definitely drops his racquet head quite a bit for that top spin.

Thanks for your incredible overall work guys, I am enjoying your videos so much. Both as a player and as a coach. Concerning the drop of the racket head for the sake of topspin, I think it is necessary to mention at the same time, why it should then point up in the first place. (My answer would be that this guarantees vastly more power. It does so however only once the timing is there, which is why I struggle sometimes not to allow beginners to start with their racket head lowered, which seems more natural to many.)

I like andy murray's backhand. I have no idea how come he hits the ball so good with a flat action. His backhand is more like squash shot of a left handed player. I guess he is really a good left handed player as well.

Good video. Informative. I've been hitting left handed forehands to try to improve my two hander. But, I've been hitting them with my left hand at the bottom of the grip, thinking because it's heavier to swing that way, I'd get more benefit. Gonna go back to hitting them with my left hand at the top of the grip now.

For me it has become easier to hit a heavy topspin backhand than ripping a flat shot for some reason (used to be the opposite way a few years ago). It's probably a matter of needing more practice. Nalbandian's backhand has always been my favorite example to look at, with Safin being a close second.

Boy, the list I proposed is not finished and never going to be. Surely, I did not include Kafelnikov, Banagashvili (or whatever is the spelling of the Georgian pro name), Nalbandian, Nadal (very demanding), Schwartzman and many other. Someone may argue that Safin bh is better than Li Na because it is twice faster but TECHNICALLY, again, in general, girls play better as they have to generate comparable ball-speed with half the size, power and explosiveness of men. This is why man can afford to "cheat" compensating miss-sets with wrists and girls seldom.

Two Handed Backhand is the Djokovic. It looks a look of working, not born with it , but it is great. I would like to know better when and how to acelerate the ball. Higher , less top spin or maybe lower with cretain top spin?
in regards to you saying you should slant down the racquet to get under the ball, can you instead just keep the racquet up and just bend your knees to get under the ball with the racquet?

Why is the two handed forehand rarely seen? I use it quite a lot on high bonding balls and I can be lethal with the power and cross court shots. Low balls are hard to hit though and if I time them wrong I hit an ugly baseball style hit.

4:32 What do you think about to get the racket head to drop below the level of the ball? When I have time my 2 handed backhand is usually pretty good, but when I get stretched out or am nervous I hit it completely flat and can't seem to get the racket to drop. Before you hit do you consciously relax the grips or how to you get that racket drop?
