Non avevo mai visto una stazione con queste caratteristiche. Una fermata in aperta campagna.

Тапок - это, пожалуй, ко всему прочему, самый тихий отечественный локомотив!))

1) Percentage of Finnish peoples (Karelians) is very small, a lot of them were assimilated by Slavs and Russians. 2) Many Russians living here don't know about aborigen Finnish peoples although Finnish names are very abundant in Leningrag region, especially here (Kannelyarvi, Tammisuo etc.). Vyborg was a famous Swedish fortress and its name is Swedish too. It became Russian after Northern War 1700-1721. 3) Among existing Finnish peoples very few speek their dialects and only in families.

This landscape is more Karelian-Finnish, but not Russian. The latter is more to south (Middle Strip, that is to south from Moscow to the middle part of Don river).

I've understood you, but Russia is very large and is factically like on colonial impery. This territory is ethnically and historically Finnish and in 1917-1940 belonged to Finland (the eastern part is named as Karelia - Karjala). The name Elisenvaara is Finnish and means "Alice's hill". The properly Russian territory is within these regions: - Moscow - Vladimir - Ryazan - Tula - Kaluga - Orel (Oryol) - Lipetsk - Tambov. The more western regions are transient to Byelorussia and Ucraine.

1) No, the Russians don't care for history, although in all schoolbooks and textbooks it is written about local history and aborigen peoples on Russian area, especially about Finnish ones (in Great Novgorod too). There is a banal ignorance. 2) Aborigen peoples may tell stories and tradition to future generation, but this becomes exotic. A lot of them forgot languages and traditions and is considered to be Russians. The situation seems to be idiotic but it is real...
