The “hexagonal” spine is just an artifact of the production method I’ve heard. It makes it less apt at scraping bark or striking a ferro-rod. Only slight downside to this knife IMHO

That 'tiny knife' looks like you could get a half decent shave out of it. Which certainly beats having a go with a machete

I hope they make a Kydex sheathe. I bought a M95 Ranger Pukko, it is built very similar to this knife but it was made with a Sabre grind (that is surprisingly thin behind the edge), and lacks the ability to scrape a ferro rod. I know it will not happen but I would like to see this knife made with a sabre grind that is just as thin behind the edge.

Nice knives you got there. Varustelekas Terävä-line is for sure the best knives for a reasonable price right now. I have the Terävä 140 and the Skrama 240, both with leather scabbards. I was never a "big knife" person ("mora", axe and saw for me) but the Skrama has convinced me otherwise. It´s great when you need branches for ground insulation etc. edit: i see people discussing the JP Peltonen M95, i actually have a pre-series one so i get the bragging rights of being the first in the world (with a few then army-mates of mine) to have a M95. They had blueing instead of the current surface treatment. The blueying disappeared when stirring military rations with the knife, haha. We told JP about it and he changed the surface treatment for the production knives.

I believe that was originally the knife that the jaakaripuukko was semi-designed after, despite many ppl online now seeming to think it was the other way round.

If your outdoor trousers are Fjällräven Barents or Viddas, the Jääkäripuukko 110 (with Boltaron sheath) slips down into the long leg pocket and disappears like it was made for it. Great for the trek in and out of the woodland. I wear Barents in every day life, so you might be able to assume a bit of my EDC too ;)

I really love my Varusteleka 110 although I might like the JP Peltonen better. The tiny knife not so much. Get a Mora Eldris. I was at the German bushcraft Jamboree and you where there also but the people said you slept in a hotel and not with the crowd. Everybody out there slept on the grass or in the woods. Some in their vehicle. But from what I hear not you. They say you went to a hotel. Is that true?

I did, indeed. Unlike most punters, I was there with a company. A company that had other things to be doing ,like the rest ,after business hours. I'm glad you had a good show. Hopefully, next year, it's a little bigger.

@@inforestsandlands I think a lot were there to represent their or a company. But they all stayed on the campground besides maybe Felix Immler and Vanessa Blank who just came to visit. I did not see or hear your talk/contribution because I did not know when it was. Not your fault of course. I did meet nice people and everybody was friendly but it could have been organized better. Anyway. I also did hear you stopped with that Pathfinder bs and went your own way (told you so) and that's good of course. Wishing you the best of luck.

And the BPS ain't a bad knife. But what it makes in price it drops a little in finesse and lifetime guarantees. But I think in the 37 dollar price bracket they are a beast.

If that is a “scandi” grind, then what is a saber grind???
@inforestsandlands
11 ай бұрын
Hey 👋 A saber grind has extremely high shoulders and a very pronounced, very deliberate secondary edge. A great example of the two can be found on LT Wright knives. Where they have the GNS saber and the GNS scandi.
