I couldn’t agree more. She’s has a distorted perspective and it’s poisonous to have this view in a society that is already attempting to eradicate domestic violence, and then she comes along to endorse a plethora of abuse. Despicable mentality. She also said in her interview with Maliha that this is a true story from her family. Well, its clear she isn’t the Meerab character. Nobody would present themselves with such negativity. You’re all intelligent enough to understand where her projection could be stemming from.

Absolutely correct. More power to the viewers. Hopefully this will lead to better content in future. And yes, the actors need to be more responsible in their choices. There's nothing in the female protagonist that young girls can idealise and, unfortunately, the way Murtasim keeps tolerating Haya is slightly obnoxious and thus the hero isn't enviable either. Frivolous content.

Appreciate the effort of Team Tere Bin for editing. Started watching this series for Yumna, alas this series has done nothing good in her brilliant career graph. Meerub the dumbest, illogical and pseudo -feminist character ever written. She isn't a heroine, just a side chick to make Murtasim look much grander. I'm sure Yumna must be regretting inside. As her fan I'm disappointed with the treatment of her character.
@Goeeegi

I actually don’t think Yumna regrets Tere Bin but she is probably regretting the misjudgement on the marital rape sequence. I think it’s a good learning moment for her as an actor and she will only come out stronger. But Tere bin has not only given her talent a mass exposure (due to the cinematic and larger than life production quality of the show), but it’s also given her a chance to show the flirty and “commercial heroine” angle that people didn’t really get to see before. Yumna always put great effort into her characters, and you’ll see that her voice modulation and delivery as Meerab is very different from say Mahjabeen or Baktawar or Sumbul. It’s another stripe in her acting repertoire. The outcry about last week’s episode all over Twitter goes to show how engaged people are with her character and her acting.

I started watching tere bin for both meerab and murtasim. Meerab was a strong independent young girl which impressed me at the starting but with time her character only disappointed us. She was shown dumb and stubborn. Murtasim was such a loving character, nobody would've dreamt he would do such thing to his wife. That part was edited but it doesn't really make any sense right now. Our expectations were ruined. Our favourite characters were ruined. First of all the writer shouldn't have put such things which would destroy a character and let the drama run smoothly. The whole drama could've being great if some illogical things weren't put there.

Thank you for your review, Rabia. I am from India and have been watching Pakistani dramas for a very long time. My all-time favorite, like many others being Humsafar in the Romance genre. Tere bin had all the right ingredients to become the new age Humsafar. It started on such a high note, including the characters and the world of tere bin which was created. This story had huge potential and could go another 20 episodes (i feel). It's unfortunate that the writers and makers went down this dark route, which was completely unnecessary. Murtasim, a progressive man surrounded with old age orthodox environment trying to make an impact one day at a time, specifically in his village and Meerab, modern, genx girl yet impulsive in her reactions could have been shown to come together and bring about a revolution to change the old age conservative mindset. I wish they concentrated on their relationship, Meerab's education, and Murtasim bringing stability in Meerab's life. What they ended up doing is just a pity and nothing else. Actors and characters (wahaj and yumna) Murtasim and meerab deserve better

For 40+ episodes, the audiences were patiently waiting for the moment when Murtasim and Meerub would consummate their relationship. It was important because we were finally seeing two adults engage in a consensual intimate moment. It was important to normalize the physical desires of women in a culture that considers it taboo. This show had given us some critical moments such as when Meerub checks out Murtasim as he is getting ready or when she loses her breath as he leans into her in one of the beginning episodes. All these little moments were suppose to culminate into “the act” which would then set an example for our society that women have physical needs and desires. We are not here to please the men but also seek satisfaction. Instead, I learned that such acts are traumatic and abstinence can save you from misery. Definitely didn’t see this lesson coming 😂

Rabia, no need to apologize. Idealistic views matter for a positive change. Since 2000s onwards, female lead characters have been made docile (a bechari) like Humsafar/ZGH leads compared to lead actresses in the 80s n 90s like. ●Sahira Kazmi ●Khalida Riyasat (late) ●Shehnaz Sheikh ●Marina Khan ●Badar Khalil ●Atiqa Odho ●Sania Saeed ●Nadia Jamil ●Yasmeen Khalil (late) They inspired a generation of women, Marina Khans character Zoya inspired young girls packing to Medical Colleges to become doctors. In hindsight, Tere Bin was all about endorcing forced marriage on a girl who is still not accepting the husband whole heartedly even after 8-9 months. The story does not show her concerns properly and the audience is manipulated by casting Wahaj who are able to make the character endearing, but at the end of the day, Murtasim as a toxic man who ultimately forced himself on his wife in anger to teach her a lesson. Meerab was intentionally shown as unlikeable so audience would applaud her being raped by Murtasim to put her in place. This is such a regressive story, wish they took the time to backtrack episode 46 and 47 and finish the story on a positive note when the romance in the story and the chemistry between the lead actors SERENDIPITOUSLY found such global appeal.

If dramas main theme was mr then they should portray murtasim liked it but no they made his character good then made this nonsense

Tere Bin was successful because it started as a feel good romance. It would have been great to end it on that note without making it a soap opera. People would have loved to watch it again and again with spectacular chemistry from the lead pair, so in the long run it would have made more financial sense on views for the producers. Now people just jump to the 5 minutes of substance in each episode to see where the story goes and dread watching it again. Not a smart business move to drag this drama!!!

Nothing can save Tere Bin anymore. Episode 47 was ridiculous and unintelligible. What I find absolutely deplorable is that a woman wrote this drama and her intention was to endorse marital r@pe. She unsuccessfully tried to justify the first slap in her interview with Maliha by stating that the situation required a slap. This is a severely deleterious and toxic perspective, because it demonstrates how she thinks and is advocating violence. Then she proceeds to include such a heinous act of sexual abuse, which is then manipulated into Meerab instigating marital relations. This is not how real life works. The female lead has been vilified to potentially justify a happy ending that has already been shot. Just remember, if the happy ending is that Meerab and Murtasim live happily ever after, then that would have been written with the inclusion of the marital r@pe and this is further noxious to society, by normalising and romanticising marital rape into the fabric of a happy marriage. This is distorted and sends a completely incorrect message about conduct within a marriage. Such behaviour is not acceptable Islamically nor outside of the realms of religion. It should not be promoted.

You’ve said what we all felt! It’s very telling that this incompetent writer tells us how she created a wonderful non toxic hero, then proceeds to make him into a rapist which we the audience cannot accept, but then to make it as though Meerub caused it, and later a happy ending will ensue, she is to be wholeheartedly condemned!Rape is about power, most rapist are men however not all men are rapist, she should understand this! There cannot be a happy ending in marital rape!! It serves then to glorify it, and also give our young men and women a very wrong impression that this is ok, it’s not acceptable in any religion nor civil society it’s a crime! I just feel sorry that wahaj and Yumna didn’t make a noises about this direction of the story, as both wore their respective characters so well that we cannot even believe that Murtasim we’ve come to love for 45 episodes would do this, and that Meerub would be so crass in her upbringing to spit and slap a man whom she clearly loves,and who has confided in her and who protected her reputation! I’m still seething!😩

Rabia, I feel your hurt and pain! And completely agree to your points about quality control. While we appreciate the production team for listening to then audience, we must acknowledge the fact that dramas are watched and rewatched after it ends. So a little more effort could have been put in to salvage the situation. Stopping transmission for a week and taking the time to fix it would have been appreciated so so much! My dream fix, with minimal reshoot : Episode 46 : keep as is Episode 47 & 48 : Air Mariam's track with loads and loads of flashback (as they do anyways). Probably include a few family scenes and flashbacks and slowmos of mother daughter etc. Include ep48 Naurez's confession etc, just edit Murstasim out. (He anyways didn't speak a word) Use this week to shoot just a romantic scene of consensual consummation of marriage by Meerub and Murtasim where Meerub tears the contract. Episode 49 : Murtassim shuts the door in fury, but Meerub rushes to the door opens it and leaves furiously from backdoor (no one sees as ppl are busy in Mariam's rukhsati) Flashback scenes of the contract being torn and consensual relationship, right before Meerub walked Mariam down the aile. Meanwhile an angry Murtassim punches the mirror etc. Episode 50: continue whatever is shot. Atleast this would have ensured consensual relationship romantically + made sense why Meerub was furious seeing Haya as she thought right after they consummated Murtassim called Haya in their room (stupid but lesser than now) + they continue with their child angle and use all the footage they have. I know its stupid and naive, but truly believe its better than whatsapp voiceovers used now! Plus the amount of love this drama is getting deserves the minimum cost and effort required for a more logical salvage situation

They all consider it normal stuff in their society. I thought they all are enlightened people but sadly they are not .all of them are in dire need of education including their misogynist writer and director who were justifying slap as per Newton third law of motion and were saying husband doesn't need to tell her anything bcoz he is head of family. One must keep this in mind that life is not about one drama or project be it an actor or writer or producer. A character (Murtasim) who was rulling audience's hearts and had become an ideal character has been ruined so badly that it's impossible to accept his actions now. After getting sexually harrassed by your husband how can a girl love of forgive her husband. A show that could have been ended beautifully and would be remembered for years has been ruined in such a way that people have immediately started forgetting it. Writer ko haya sey peyar hey still murtasim behave with haya like nothing was happened for her.😂 Actually if they want to drag this drama they could put some story about malik jubair(by taking own property and by giving punshiment), then punished haya, even they could show meerab education process and becoming a lawyer and also living with her husband but instead of choosing this path they liked to choose marital rape or forcefully assault path as a result the drama destroyed drastically bcz people never going to accept this story as they decorated. If dramas main theme was mr then they should portray murtasim liked it but no they made his character good then made this nonsense

Hey dear instead of reshoot or going reverse they could have shown this entire shot in haya's imagination, I mean when haya left from the room, she starts imaging that Murtasim is very angry with Meerab and this is happening between them however in real thet resolve their difference and came out together happily. For showing seperation they should have use Naurez angle , I mean when Naurez came in the morning and start confronting Murtasim and Mabegum that time Meerub supports him fully and blamed Mabegum badly so this could be one angle which could have been use for separation.

Nooran is a soft target. She is a newbie. Biggest blame is on actors who started cashing on popularity by appearing in ads. Sold their soul for $$$. No responsibility. Both actors knew they were glorifying something that is ultimately leading to MR. You are the voice of reason. Have subscribed to both your channels. 🤗

Absolutely correct, the new writer needs to stay under the mentor for at least two years. Yes, they should have to reshoot 46th again because this is not an ordinary drama anymore. Though the story is not unique, yet actors and the direction made it very individual. The viewers are attached to their actors. Still, in the 48th episode, Murtasim didn’t ask anything from Haya. Does it make any sense? She is still roaming around the house the same way. The storyline is totally absurd. Is Murtasim changed into Saad? He is still listening to Haya’s Bakwas. What the storyline wants to show us? At this stage, Haya should be uncovered. Thank you, the #ProductionteamTereBin for listening to our voice.

Very well said Rabia, Ma Sha Allah. I would just like to emphsise the aspect of social responsibility. The world has changed, people are much more aware, you are beaming your content to the global village. The writers, producers, content wallas and actors all need to be aware of people's expectations. You can't give them insensitive messages and expect them to swallow it all. Some People in Pakistan may not be as sensitive or aware about certain things but it is embarassing when people from neighbouring countries call you out. When introducing a particular content please be aware that it is being shown in a context which will be acceptable to people. Not doing that has resulted in the present fiasco. The drama which inspite of numerous loopholes was being labelled as the most romantic drama in Pakistan's history has become a joke!

Tere Bin was a beautiful love story and not anymore…sadly!! The story (not the writer) had so much potential where they could have shown Meerub softening and finally accepting her love. Rabia thank you for saying that we need to expect responsible and intelligent writing from a writer! And writer’s background check is important and a newer writer should have the guidance of an experienced writer to go forward with the content!

Like the respect he shows to her, he never revealed the rohail matter to any of the fam member rather kept it only btn them. Bottom line is this they should not drag the drama to 50 episodes As they can end the drama on a high end with happy ending on episode 46 when meerab came to him happily with all dresed up and a love look on her face toward murtasim. but instead they screwed everything up and messed up as they wanna do drag this drama like Siyani. they need to understand this type dramas are not more than 32 episodes. plus they drag Maryam story for 12 episodes for nothing. Crazy

What has hurt the most to the viewers of tere bin is - The makers of tere bin were to show and justify “Marital Rape and “Thappad” in the name of “Love” and sell it to the audience, Which speaks a lot about the mentality of the makers, that it is “Okay” to physically and sexually assault the person you love(whether married or not) What makers didnot realise is that No amount of guilt and self harm of Murtasim can undo the damage he has caused. Murtasim raping his wife and then feeling the guilt and self harming and if it is a happy ending that means murtasim will be forgiven at the end- this thought in itself is so SICK. there is no forgiveness for such deeds and no man can assault a woman he loves and if he assaults then it is not love as simple as that. Murtasim’s character has lost his charm though the makers changed the MR scene. If we are to follow the story from the beginning what we learn is that a man who is so madly in love ,understanding, caring, loving, sacrificial, taking stand, supporting, waiting for his wife’s consent after all at the end can be an animal therefore questioning and damaging the character of a “Man” in general and arising trust issues on different levels. and this very thought has handed over a free pass to “these” kinds of men to do such deeds in the name of love. This is SAD. Mixing a love story and marital rape is such a disastrous thing if the writer were to address marital rape then the story line shouldn’t have been this(love story) Dramas are not reality however they are the reflection of the society we live in.
@doclyfe

Even though they changed the dialogues, the acting obviously makes sense only in the context of marital rape. It doesn’t make sense that Meerub leaves her house in the middle of the night after giving consent herself. It makes no sense at all. What a disaster. They ruined the drama with bad writing in the first place then “fixing” it with worse dialogues. Make it make sense.

Another point i would like to add very humbly is that the makers and writers have to know who their target audience is. Marital r*** is a very sensive topic and yes, people need to be aware about it and content shpuld be made. But the world of Tere bin that was created was never the platform to show that. Tere bin's audience is not the one who is watching a prime time show to watch such a sensitive topic. Even watching Haya and kala jaadu was tortuous. Tere bin audience was invested in watching this mismatched couple's beautiful relationship. Plus a sensitive topic can't have a project treatment and sensibility of over the top world of tere bin. A humble request from an ardent fan of Tere bin

Simply they can show that this all is Haya's evil dream and her over thinking which breaks with their fight voices from the room and murtassim leave room angrily. And when Haya tried to talk Meerub she give her shut up call and stubbornly denied to leave her place because somehow their misunderstandings will resolve in future and the beauty of their relationship remain continuesly grow and strengthen.... Both characters are shown strong ethicaly and morally nothing can sheter them so easily , they didn't deserve this illogical twist.............. Disappointed alot.

To be honest, In my humble opinion, I think critic/reviewers only murder the creativity in general. Any artist (either writer or other art form) should be allowed to create whatever he/she wants to create independently, then it is up to people if they like it or not. But pressurizing the writers, directors, actors to mold their creative process according to the critics view point is not healthy at all. 👎. Think about it, if the content is to only please the critics and reviewers then why we need any creative person? shouldn't we make own content according to our personal likings.

A healthy dynamic is for a healthy audience. In my opinion half of the people who watch tv dramas all the time do not have a conscious thinking, some are drowning in entertainment and are often gullible. Tv industry is taken seriously here because people watch with keen interest and draw conclusions from it just like anyone would do, but some get a flawed perception of reality based on dramas, and for such an audience it’s important to show content which is responsible. Just like rabia said dramas change ideas and perceptions. There was a drama named khani- inspired by a real incident and feroze khans character was extremely toxic and violent which was later romanticised. People literally had fan accounts by his characters name. In Pakistan rape cases are on peak, you’ll see 20 types of violence cases on news and 10 of those would be against women. Pakistan contributes to 20% of total honour killings alone. Our society is already falling apart and failing women. This drama got like 30 million plus views, watched is masses, and has a huge influence on the minds of people. In such an environment you can’t just show MR like a normal scene and have creative freedom with it. Creative production is appreciated where people know that it’s fiction and art, and don’t take it as facts yk
@AsBi1

@@abcdefu6040 i agree with your point, but people watch all the crazy shit coming on the netflix, youtube etc,, and no one ever complains, in fact they love it, then why we expect our own industry to be a certain type.
@abcdefu6040
Жыл бұрын
@@AsBi1 I get it, but even in those type of shows and scenes the person committing heinous crimes is shown to have some past trauma or mental issues. It’s not something a sane person does and west may bhi there are people who romanticise serial killers, problem har jaga hai. They can show nudity there too but it would be an R rated show or movie, here whatever you show is gonna be watched in masses by all age groups. Maybe we can get to a point in future where creative freedom is appreciated and the people watching can draw a line between morality and immorality. When the MR scene came up, there were people in the comments saying meerab deserved it because she spit on him and slapped him so it was justified. Look at the mentality of these people, they are so used to victim blaming. And the reason our industry is a certain type is because only a few tropes are screen worthy, enough to fulfil the channels ratings. They will feed the public with what they want to watch and profit off of it, they don’t care about quality content. Again I could be wrong because there are exceptions to this like parizad and Bakhtawar serial, probably more i haven’t watched tv in some time but u get the point I guess

RABIA, Nooran came on your show and told us about the wonderful non toxic hero she created in a mUrtasim, then we all fell in love with this Murtasim, who is kind, caring, respectful, funny, romantic,soft, and protective, even so who went berserk that this might happen to his sister when she was in MZ’s captivity!and suddenly she insults our intelligence by making him a rapist !this triggered many especially women as the message Nooran gives is that all nice decent men are potential rapist! I think she single handedly destroyed the merits of the drama, and frankly I’ve lost interest in it! sad that the two stellar leads have to be thrown into a cesspit by this incompetent writer who was trying to garner ratings instead of being consistent with her non toxic hero, as to us Murtasim isn’t capable of rape! making Meerub slap and spit on him was another outrageous action, as a prelude to the rape. To justify the rape which was disgusting! one we cannot accept this as Meerub maybe a grey character but she apparently was raised well by Waqas and Anila, and wouldn’t be a gutter snipper by her actions I’m sad for Wahaj and Yumna, who carried this badly written drama to such dizzy heights, and it’s their performance of the two characters which had audiences glued to the drama! From episode 46, I don’t have any interest to watch this drama, as the writer and producers have done great injustices, and the retelling the story in 47, makes no sense in comparison to Murtasim breaking the mirrors in a rage, and Meerub looking still very much a rape victim! It’s all too dreadful, I hope Wahaj and Yumna survive the backlash! And they are fabulous talented actors!My desire is to protect them from the greed of the ratings chasers!
