Pasolini films were never ever money makers nor blockbusters. Teorema was made on a shoestring budget. Surprised to hear Stamp complain about not making any money on this film. It isn't at all uncommon for even famous actors to work for practically free when they have respect for film makers who are unknown and possibly underground and counter culture. Counter Culture no one even knows or understands this word in 2019, but in the late 1960's it meant, A LOT ! Pasolini wasn't mainstream, also something else no one would understand these days.

Come on that's bullshit. That film made money and for the lead to not see a penny is very suspect.

@@bonnie3447 That's assuming that Stamp is telling the truth. He was wrong in the first part of the video when he talked about Pasolini rewriting the film.

That's right. Pasolini bought his castle and Alfa Romeo probably by selling his poetry books and novels door to door. Stamp is simply saying that Pasolini was a hypocrite (like all Communists) and that he wasn't paid a salary for that film. I was wondering if i.e. Johnny Depp worked "for free" in the films of Julian Schnabel, Kusturica or Jim Jarmusch. I haven't googled it, but i highly doubt it.

@@ppuh6tfrz646 Absolutely. This is all sounding rather invented, for Pasolini was all about the script (since he was a writer). It was Fellini who got to shoot a movie without knowing what it will become ( 8+1⁄2 ). Also, Pasolini was a Communist who became hated by the Communists themselves and got expelled from the party. This is to say that Pasolini was one against everybody else. He was an individual. A thinker. A poet. And an inconvenient and courageous prophet who met his end too soon like all great prophets did before him.

0:19 This isn't true. On the DVD you can watch the film in the released Italian version and also with the original English soundtrack and the script is pretty much the same.

It's still dubbed though. It's not there actual voices still. I have the dvd also.

@@bonnie3447 The other actors may have been dubbed because their accents were too strong or their English wasn't great but it's clearly Stamp's voice on the English soundtrack.

I think this is an interesting point. I always got the impression from watching the film that Stamp didn't really know what was going on.
