33:00 onwards about the distinction between detail and abstraction, that's completely spot on. i might have some sort of idea why it appears that way. to me it seems neurodivergents very often have a gap in their abilities. i think in autistics this gap is often in favour of practical thinking, where they for example can't detect sarcasm or metaphors, because everything is very literal to them. then in schizoids this gap would be in favour of verbal/abstract thinking. they don't struggle verbally at all, and are in fact often above average or far above average in that regard. it seems to me that this verbal intelligence lends itself a lot more to loose associations, perceiving concepts as being highly interconnected, and blending into other senses, to the point of them interfering with daily life because of defects in other parts of the brain. these cause you to be unable to shut out all these internal stimuli, generated by a lot more developed part of your brain, and make it very hard to draw pleasure and meaning from the practical world around you. i also know i'm not making this up, at least speaking from personal experience, because at one point i went through a psychological test battery, and turns out there was something like a 30+ point gap between my highest and lowest cognitive scores. highest was all verbal, lowest was practical, and related to visual processing mostly. not that i'm unable to function in daily life, but it's just that some of those "scores" are so much comparatively higher, that i feel like they overpower other brain functions. dividing the entire human brain into a few categories isn't nearly enough to really get an accurate picture, but this is just what i've noticed generally

I suspect that people also tend to use the cognitive functions in which they are 'better' which leads to a further increase of the gap.

@@Macaroth1 Yeah exactly, no one wants to be faced with their weaker side every day, so people seek out careers and studies that play into their strengths. I can also tell though, that even if i were to put in all the effort i could into this stuff i struggle with, i would never be able to improve more than a tiny amount. Meanwhile I get to feel fulfilled and capable as much as possible by going the other way, and given that this is the only life I have I really don't care about purposely making myself struggle all the time. Doesn't mean I don't like doing hard things, but I have to know I can actually do them if I can keep putting in the effort.

I took a personality test about 13 years ago. It came up with Schizoid / Schizotypal and various adverts popped up offering books such as "The loners manifesto"

I read Loner's Manifesto shortly after learning about SzPD in an abnormal psyche course. If you think you have SzPD, I would recommend it. I know some very introverted people, some of them within my immediate family, and although they agreed to read it too, none of them actually related to it (even though they cognitively understood the subjects). I expected the others to relate as well, as I thought it was a shared experience of introverts. But after three different people read it and didn't relate, three quite introverted people by normal standards, I then thought back to what I had recently learned about SzPD. It was one of those . . . ah-ha, yes, shit . . . sort of moments. There are many books that relate the subjective experience of introversion, but so far for me, TLM is the only basically accurate portrayal of a schizoid as they live with it. This makes me want to re-read it.

Is it Elloshia or Aloshia that he decribes? I've never heard of the word in this context and I have been struggling to find any sort of reference to the term outside of a person name. Maybe if I knew the spelling proper might help-
