Thank you so freaking much. I just bought a 2024 Terrova and viewed so many videos before purchasing. I too saw the harbor freight air hose coil but didn't like it dangling. I also wanted a black air hose to match and not be a eye sore. Once again thank you.

I like how clean that install is, I have a boat very similar to you and was wondering how did you get your cable to go into the boat and then to the unit? Was it already like that or did you DIY that?
@heartlandtrapping3194
Жыл бұрын
I drilled out a 1/2” hole then inserts a rubber grommet that I ran my transducer cable through so it wouldn’t get scraped up along the metal. Then just attached my cable to back of unit and zip tied the extra out of the way. I cut an access panel about 6”x6” so I could get to the unit up front

If you can do it, and have access to machining, the absolute best way is to disassemble the power head, disconnect the cables, and mill a slot deep enough to accommodate enough of the cable diameter to slide through the fixed block on the Terrova. You center it up on the existing key slot in the shaft, and it will pass through and up and down without any coils. It’s almost as if it’s internally installed in the shaft. All you have to do after reinstalling the power head is secure the cable to the shaft. You can lay the cable in the slot and secure it with silicone. I’m on my third season without a glitch.

Well I have seen this done, and it was after I had already finished mine. But I agree 100% that would be the best way to install a transducer cable. When this one shoots craps I will probably go the route you’re talking about. Although so far I haven’t had a single issue out of mine. But your method is sharp looking and mess free👍

@@jetcat132 Thanks @jetcat132....I'm going to give this a shot. It's simple and cheap. I just know that I can't go through soldering another transducer cable again. @jetcat132

@@phillamoore157 I’d post a picture of mine if I could, it’s seamless. Three straight seasons, and it still looks almost like an OEM factory install and works perfectly. Good luck, just take your time and it should work out. I know one thing, the chips and slivers generated by milling that shaft were nasty. I don’t know what that composite is, but it’s a pain in the ass. Make sure to wear gloves because the slivers are bad.

Interesting…I’m going to give this a shot. I don’t like the bike cable method either (not unless i absolutely have to). If you haven’t had any problems with this, since your video, I’m gonna pickup some clear hose. Btw….I’m assuming that hose is “open” to allow you to slide the cable into it, then you wrapped the hose with some sort of tape?
@heartlandtrapping3194
6 ай бұрын
Zero issues so far with this method, countless times on the water with it. The air hose is hollow, but just use a roofing hook razor blade and slit it allowing for the transducer wire to placed inside. Then electrical tape shut correct.
@phillamoore157
6 ай бұрын
@@heartlandtrapping3194 Yeah....that hose part doesn't concern me. What I did with putting my priority in protecting that transducer cable form being hacked up by the TM blade, that prior to soldering the cable back together again, I put some heavy duty shrink wrap around the most vulnerable parts of the cable. I NEVER want to go through soldering internal wires THAT small again. I'm good with a soldering iron, but was disgusting. That was almost as bad as replacing the steering collar that inexplicably broke 2nd time out. But, I digress.... this looks promising. Going to try assembling it today.
