$114,000? No, the Cyberbeast is a tad under $100,000. If you were referring to the Foundation version, which is not really relevant, since there will only be 1,000, that is about $120,000. You said that the range was not what was promised, but that is not true for the single and dual motor variants. You said that there was no reason for the exterior to be built out of stainless steel and in the next breath, you said that is what makes it tough. Yes, the interior is minimalist, with very few buttons. That is the Tesla design choice. Like the looks of the Cybretruck, you can take it or leave it. You left out a lot of pros: better payload capacity than any other EV pick-up, fold up rear seats to give more storage space, 48 volt architecture to reduce cost and weight, 800 V main battery architecture to increase charging speed (which I believe is actually capable of 350 kW charging, not 250), better efficiency than any other pick-up truck, steer by wire with variable ratios, rear wheel steering to give a tight turning circle, power frunk, air suspension with an incredible range, including the highest clearance of any EV pick-up.

As far as opening up the superchargers goes, it was always going to happen: it's additional revenue independent of vehicle sales to be the charging station for everybody else's EVs. Keeping the competitive advantage for another few years before opening would have been nice for differentiating Teslas, but OTOH opening the stations is directly connected with the adoption of Tesla's connector as a standard connector which is really good for Tesla and their installed base (superchargers, vehicles, and powerwalls). It will take a lot more work on the solar side of the business, but there is a path (that I'm sure some inside the company are thinking about) for Tesla to become a major 'gas station' brand, generating their own electricity with their own solar panels and selling it to everyone, not just Tesla owners. The sooner outside brands of EV become dependent on the Tesla supercharger network, the more likely that path becomes.

The only way the range extender MIGHT be made practical is that it MIGHT conceivably come with an overhead frame (like a swingset?) that allows you to attach it by hooks and lift it with a winch? (It's just just a crazy guess, but there has to be a way that a small-scale contractor gets a load like a welding power supply into the bed of a pickup.) You're right that it will be far too heavy for any normal persons to move themselves.
@idahorx1

Pretty simple to do it like you said, or just mound a chain fall or even a come-along to the ceiling of your garage (spread the load over a few trusses and it will be fine). Or a small jib crane (think engine lift). Would really be nice to be able to lift it out and use it for home backup power, but I imagine the inverter and power handling hardware is in the truck.

Insurance company. Tesla can just open new company and insure it
@EforElectric

They have tried to do it for years and so far completely failed. Plus, the numbers don't lie. You have to charge a lot of money for the insurance that will cover very expensive repairs. Doesn't matter who opens that

It's a great El Camino, a very car-like "truck". Perfect for people who don't really need a truck but just want something big, other than the tiny frunk, high cost, etc. For towing a truck should have a brake controller, towing mirrors (at least as an option), a camera pointed at the hitch, a tailgate with steps, etc. Does it have any of these things? I haven't see these in any of the tech guy reviews who were more concerned about car attributes.

As always, Great points, 80k USD for the truck, No way it gets 340 miles or 540kms on a charge and it will be 2026 before they get to 200k units a year. I can get a better truck today, F150,Lightning or other, and maybe the average person can trade it in, in 5 or 6 years for a cybertruck

Those windows are a serious problem: Imagine if you drive into water by accident and want to get out? Good luck trying to use a life hammer to shatter the glass.

Car windows are already quite hard to break. Watch some cop shows as they hit the drivers window with their flashlights to no effect, and I've had some things bounce off my windshield that I don't know how it wasn't damaged. But a proper glass break tool should work fine. One of these first ten owners should test it for us. I'm sure they can get the window fixed in just a couple hours in their home town.

I love the idea of battery range extenders, or at least equipping with a port for one. They'll need to get lighter and much cheaper before I'd consider taking one on an extended trip out into the wilds, however (and yes, such places remote from any infrastructure still exist, that in an ICE can be addressed by hauling a couple of 5 gal jerrycans).

Só the "I know I'm very ugly but I don't care" hype maybe deserved our attention because it had a very interesting price, a wonderful range, a bearable estimated delivery date, but turns out it has none of that. What does it has to offer after all?

If you think the CyberTruck is a triangle on wheels, that's on you. You just are not a mechanical guy. You don't get it. This is decades ahead of anything out there. There is no cons. I wouldn't sell my reservation for anything.

I think the reason it is a triangle on the wheels to me is because I don't belong to the Tesla cult and I live outside of Elon Musk's colon. But I'm sure it's nice and cozy up there.

In all reality, the Cybertruck seems to be close to the other EV Trucks in performance , price, and specs. After all the hype, it’s just a different looking take on the EV pickup truck. The major reason to buy it is the unique appearance and the charging network. Most of the other stuff that was promised seems to have been overhyped.

Close to which other EV’s and in what way? If you believe shape is the difference you probably haven’t done much research.

@@graciasthanks4771 the ford, Chevy and rivian. The range, performance, payload, towing capacity are all in line. It’s slightly better in some areas and the others are better in some areas. It beats the Lightning in towing , and it equals the Rivian in towing , the Lightning beats it in payload. The range is similar. But the Chevy beats them all in range. The price is similar to that of the Lightning. The Lightning has a bigger Frunk. The Tesla comes with a retractable cover over the bed. These are differences that make some prefer one over the other. The style is personal preference. All in all, it’s a competitor to the others with the main drawing factor being whether a person prefers traditional or cutting edge styling. The stainless steel will be attractions for some and a turnoff for others. But overall it’s not a breakthrough. It’s just different. Nothing wrong with that.

I have never been a truck guy, so for me it was a non-event. It was cool to see a bunch of press about EVs though. If nothing else, the general public is noodling on what it is like to own an EV, and that is a good thing. Thx for the vid. I enjoyed watching.
