Amazing! I own 5K shares of TSLA and I keep buying more. I think energy stocks, alongside tech stocks, particularly those companies with close ties to Artificial Intelligence will have a great run over the next few decades. I like your insight. Well done.

Love it. I’m a big stocks lady and it has worked well for me. My growth portfolio’s 320% up this year. ~$450k+ profit. I still have some Tesla but I sold most of it at a higher price. I’m surfing the AI wave into the next few decades.

To be kinda blunt, I’m giving up on investing in stocks… I put between 2000 to 3000 a month and it’s nothing but down down down… Sooooo frustrating, and I only invest in boring companies

I think it’s best you look for a true financial advisor who can at least start you out on the right path. A pro who will manage your portfolio either dynamically or tactically, which basically means active management - -going where money is being made. They will allocate your assets based on your risk tolerance, time horizon, and investment profile. The word safely may mean different things to different investors. An advisor will identify what safely means to you. Experience backed up with in-depth research is better than most KZitemr's recommendations.

Wow... I didn't understand the energy margin story until now. Thank you for sharing this insight. Us non-accountants need this kind of breakdown to really comprehend it. $4.50 eps would be huge. That would take the P/E down to ~35 at the current stock price. Meanwhile, all the FUDDY articles will say that we are just Elon fanboys and Tesla is a meme stock. Well, if being a fanboy is wrong, I don't want to be right.

More than likely, Tesla will have a Megapak factory on every continent before 2030, mainly because energy is NEEDED everywhere.

James, yes Tesla will make money in maintenance of the Mega Packs. However, I think you missed Larry’s point. Within each contract is a Performance Obligation covering the first few years. Tesla states they have in reserves $3.2b to pay to purchasers if Mega Packs don’t meet contractual benchmarks marks. Tesla states that in their opinion they will meet these contractual obligations and therefore release $1b from reserves. The $1b goes to Tesla’s bottom line.
@mkijn999

@icannot_enough this. The reserves are pure profit. Costs are not reserved, they have been accounted for. 3.8 billion of profit, 1 billion within 12 months of LAST quarter. This reserve is growing

@icannot_enough 3.8 billion of profit, 1 billion before 31 March 2025. Costs accounted for, much of revenue reserved, becomes pure profit (minus any defect fixing/penalties)

Seems plain that the ‘cost free’ revenues are based on meeting specified performance targets after installation and commissioning. There will be a clause in the contract along the lines that should the system not perform as per specification that Tesla will be responsible for taking corrective measures to ensure that it does and/or face financial penalty. This is boiler plate contractual stuff that minimises the financial risk to the end user by behaving as an insurance policy.

Thanks James. I tried to watch Herbert’s video with Matt and Larry but got bored with Matt umming his way through things. I understand that some energy revenue is deferred and Elon already said 2 years ago that energy would be at least as big as auto. Faith in Elon is all I needed in 2018 and it’s all I need now. The rest is just confirmation.

With construction contracts, when you pay wages they are immediately expensed. Your suppliers may give you 30-60 days to pay but they are expensed when paid. When you invoice it usually had a 10% holdback, which as Larry imo was referencing, doesn’t become due until later, after the job was deemed substantially complete. We invoiced the hold holdback after substantial, but we had already recognized the holdbacks as income back when we invoiced. Not sure if this is exactly the same.

While this is speculative, I've generally thought that energy lumpiness has had a large component of supply scarcity in the form of batteries. Only recently have the prices of battery elements stabilized in commodity terms, and only recently has CATL achieved more production capacity than existing demand. I cite CATL in particular because stationary storage is now all about LFP cells. Tesla could have built a second megapack factory years ago, but they didn't have enough supply for it to be operational.

I lost over $70k when everything started to tank. Not because I was in an exchange that went belly up. I was just stupid to hold and because that's what everyone said. I'm still responsible. It just taught me to be a better investor now that I understand more of what could go wrong. It took me over two years of being in the market, I'm really grateful I found one source to recover my money, at least $10k profits weekly. Thanks Natalie Strayer

Thank you James. I guess you saw my post to you on X. When Elon made claims about the energy business, I didnt put much weight in it. But I do now. My experience is, when you run a smaller tech company, most profits actually comes from service, and much less from sales. Per in Denmark. 😎🇩🇰

You are still not understanding what a Performance Obligation is. It has nothing to do with Maintenance, COGS or installation. It is a contracting saying my product will make you this much money and if it does, I get a cut.
