OK what Tesla owner will be the first to film identifying themselves as a non-Tesla in the app, then getting the CSS plug out of the dock, then plug their own CSS adapter into the end of that and plug it all into a Tesla!

Only issue I see is the tesla cable is very short meant for charging a car who's port is on the far back corner. Some EV's are on the front fender closer to the drivers door. Although some of the Kia and Hyundais have their port on the front grill and for them charging will easy.

I can not wait until I can use these with my Ford f150 lightning... Although, I would also like to be able to purchase an adapter+cable that can extend the length and make parking and trailering easier with things like my truck. I would be more than happy to pay for it and to pay a premium to be able to use such an adapter with ANY SuperCharger location...

Yeah that’s a downside sadly. Only a few superchargers are currently setup to allow pull thru chargers for those towing

@@AIAddict spread the word... I (and others I would presume) will pay Tesla $1000s of dollars to buy a personal supercharger adapter cable. AND pay a healthy premium per each kWh we use via app-only accessibility to use ANY SuperCharger with our non-Tesla vehicles... The magic dock is awesome. But I would happily personally "but into" the supercharger network even though my Ford/GM/etc never will adopt the NACS standard or utter their ;) ;) executioners name.

this sounds like a great idea until you realize that tesla charging cables are short thus the charging port on teslas are at the rear corner. this is not the case for many other vehicles so adopting NACS for all cars is not a quick fix. We should have done what europe did and for tesla to CCS, and every car in europe can use any charger.

The cord is not long enough if you charge port is on the right side of the car. You would have to charge in a different side and then you would take up two spaces. Tesla forgot to think about that.

There is going to need to be a system in place for non Tesla cars unplugging and occupying the spot. With Tesla cars someone can just plug them in. This will need a reporting service or something that disables that car from the network until they pay the fine or something

Good to finally see some follow through on this promise. For all Ego Man's bull, at least his hype train revived interest in electric cars and helped us get this far. Now if we could just start making our cities more walkable and our mass transit more reliable and less terrifying, we might eventually strike a balance between climate friendliness and independence.

Basically, while the cord is plugged into the charger, it's plugged into an adapter. That adapter will plug into non tesla vehicles. So, if you roll up in a non tesla to charge, that adapter will release along with the the tesla cable as one seamless action to charge your EV. If charging with a tesla that adapter will stay locked into the station.
