To be fair to CarsGuide, I have seen other reviewers (not owners) mention a software update that was pushed out to them (no choice given) that disabled Track Mode. My guess is that this was only done to cars with reviewers for some reason, and would explain why a lot of reviewers have not mentioned Track Mode and all the advantages it brings, especially in the fun department. A real own goal by Tesla, I cannot see why they did that. I also agree that it should have a display or HUD in front of the driver. Having said that, there was a lot of ignorance and negativity about Tesla displayed in this review, from not knowing that Track Mode even existed, claiming the Tesla is big and heavy - both of which are actually completely wrong (it is the lightest car in its class and it's a 3 series sized sedan!), 'acoustic glass in the front' which has been there for years. Also, he was complaining about the practicality but that boiled down to the sub-trunk storage space not being in the main part of the boot - just a bizarre complaint, the car has the most storage in its class even without the sub-trunk space. They actually beat the claimed consumption figure from Tesla, but just said it was 'reasonably close'! Complaining about the lack of transparency in the servicing shows a lack of understanding that it requires virtually no servicing, and all costs are provided to you in the Tesla app when you book it in, and Tesla are willing to provide that info if you ask, which they should have done. Overall, this really was not an 'expert' review, pretty average I have to say, and disappointing.

The car will not start a software update on its own, you have to confirm it. It’s also the Same weight as the new BMW M3, its actually very light on its feet for what it is. As for buttons being fiddly, the voice activation works quite well, and as for interior noise it’s actually very quiet on highway speed. Like the comments have said above, if you want to dial down the computers or turn them off you chuck it into track mode put oversteer on max and stability control off and away you go. Also as for servicing I’ve owned multiple Teslas, I have a 2019 Model 3 SR that’s 5 years old, has 100,000kms on it and I have spent exactly $0 on servicing. Only tyres and it’s on its 3rd set. As for autopilot vs Mercedes don’t make me laugh, Merc is miles and miles behind. it’s like these channels just can’t give Tesla the Credit it deserves. It’s like they try to pretend they aren’t as good as they are. If this was a BMW or Merc at this price it would get 11/10

I've owned a 2019 LRDM for 5 years/64k miles and have saved a lot of money compared to the BMW M2 I was considering on the complete lack of service cost. No oil changes, no brake pads, no fluid changes, no engine air filter, just about nothing. Then there's the $10k I saved on fuel over these 5 years....the cost of ownership of these cars is a huge advantage over comparable IC vehicles.

EVs always have to jump through more hoops when it comes to reviews. First they were slow and not as fast as the fastest ice cars. Then when they got faster they aren't as much fun or don't make loud noises. Theres always a new hurdle for them to prove themselves as worthy compared to a "Real" car. Perhaps just admitting its a different experience and one that will be the majority of cars as time goes on is probably closer to the truth. Loud engine noise and losing traction of tyres are the sounds of inefficiency and inferior technology even if some people are emotionally attached to them. That will gradually disappear as people that grew up with ICE cars become less and less. What will some people make of full self drive and AI when you don't actually want to drive a car except on a track for fun and recreation?

They complain, but don't look at nor test the track mode, where you can reduce the stability control and traction control. I get the feeling they want something to complain about. The new M3P definitely has a rear wheel bias, but it never ceases to amaze me that it does not lose traction. There is now a big mismatch between front and rear motor power capability. I gave one a good test drive, and have one on order. Most of my cars get on the track at some stage. I'm more than happy to drive the car NOT in track mode, because on the street safety is paramount.

I haven't driven a new one, but I own a 2022 Model 3 Performance and as far as I am concerned it is by a long shot the most fun high performance car I have ever owned, and I have owned a long series of fun muscle cars. And I don't understand how you can say that the computer will transfer power from the back to the front and vice verser. There is no driveshaft, there are two motors that independently drive either the front wheels or the back wheels, what are you talking about? And I love firm suspension, I do not find it "crashy", whatever that means. This is a sports car, you expect it to have firm suspension. I find mine rides very well over any kind of surface, including badly maintained surfaces, ie, I reckon it is really compliant, and it doesn't have the new cars more sophisticated suspension. And I reckon it took me about five minutes to get used to it not having a speedo in front of me, glancing left at the tablet to look at everything it includes, the main thing being a very big digital speedo and the GPS is no trouble for me at all. I love how big the tablet is and particularly how big the navigation system is. Do Tesla influencers get paid?..or are they part of the company?. Fart noises rather than a HUD, a clip on sun blind rather than an integral auto blind. Bland minimalism ..coz that's the only way we can keep the price acceptable. _STILL_ noteworthy for what it doesn't have that it should. _STILL_ uninspirational for true car people. _STILL_ an appliance.

Each to their own - every day for over a year, every time I left the house I had the choice of a modified manual 300+hp Alfa Guilietta QV or my Model 3 sitting in my driveway as my choice of car to drive away in. I had to put entries in my diary to remember to turn over the Alfa and move it a little so avoid a dead battery and flatspotting the tyres.

Wow so you can’t move a small icon up and down with your finger and you mistakenly did an update when you wanted to use the car… wow first world problems right there. I mean are you serious about the drive selector? Also not everyone wants a big wing and carbon fibre everywhere and the look at me car. Some of us just like a sleeper car that under the skin is a serious sports car. Well done Tesla and will compete with any European so called sports car. 👍

8.4/10 seem way too high according to this reviewer who basically didn't like anything about this car: speed - "it's fast but who needs this?", comfort - "try to avoid potholes and bumps", noise - "it's noisy inside even at 90kph", user ui - "I don't like the removal of the stalks", fun level - "it's not fun, too predictable"... So how come it got such a high score??

Not enough! Just like in the S, Tesla needs to differentiate these more Like stepping from a BMW 330 to an M3. Hell I see more differentiation from a 330 to an M340 than this. I got an S Plaid and although it is a Rocket, I changed my daily to an Ioniq 5 N instead of a 3 Performance because of this. You can’t place the Model 3 Performance and the Ioniq 5 N in the same sentence the Ioniq 5 N got the “Special” vibe just right and is a hell of a fun ride.

Except a 330i is like 90k and a m3xdrive is 200k on the road. They are two different cars, they also cost 2 very different amounts.
@alastairhatt360

And Ioniq 5 N is for people who can’t let go of the noisy ICE cars but want an EV. It’s a gimmick and will not interest all EV buyers. Plus the cost is ridiculous for what it is.

@@oggyoggy1299 No! Is the same car but there are a lot of differences. From the body in white welding points and adhesives to reinforce rigidity. Is wider and lower with more functional aero ect….. just like I said 330 to M3 type of difference M3P is almost a regular 3 just like my Plaid is almost a regular S.

I tested a Tesla Model 3 a month ago, I had a radiation detector device in my hand and there was a high dose of radiation in the vehicle. These vehicles must be insulated with lead. Including my own hybrid Corolla vehicle, a high dose of radiation was detected after 60 km. I think this is a very dangerous sign of cancer for people..

LOL - I think you've injested too much of the lead you want to insulate everything with - these have been tested endlessly - there is zero radiation above the background level in the cabin of the vehicle other than the small magnets holding the visors and the charging docks for the phones not even from the screen - and it dissipates to less than 1 milligauss within a couple of centimetres.
