😂..I put a white styrofoam cup upside down hanging like you did with the smiley ball. Love it. Great video btw. If viewers are wondering the setup for Homelink is so easy it's nuts. I've only used Homelink, but was curious about myQ. After a lot of research and reviews I decided to stay with Homelink. The installation on my 2024 Model 3 LR AWD requires the front bumper to come off...fyi everyone. Buy it from Tesla and the installation fee is included...just schedule it for mobile install...at home..and you're all set. It's that easy. It can be setup for full automation. I have a datached garage and a gate. That is why Homelink is best for me. myQ being Wi-Fi dependant and glitchy is not gona work for me.

I agree that this module is needed... At my house I have essentially no AT&T service so MyQ wouldn't work if I subscribed.

I guess it’s a personal preference whether we want myQ and not to mess around with the car’s electric tho that plug is already there unconnected; thanks for the video showing exactly where it is. We just got our LR less than a week ago just realized there’s no HomeLink (as in my MS) but only myQ is available. Well, we just ordered the little garage door opener and the community gate opener, we are good to go, $15 total 😅

The bracket does not have a screw hole only in the front bumper portion. If you did this, you would need a washer nut for the other side regardless.

I think it will over time. I see it on the tesla website for $350 and on ebay for around $200 as of today. Main reason I installed this as MyQ was really unreliable. It was hit or miss on opening the garage door.

Yah, you can buy the correct one via Tesla for the new 2024 model 3. As it noted in my other comment, you will need to take the bumper off to access the connection on the passenger side.

MyQ cost $45.00 a year. If you lease your Tesla for 3 years you spend $135.00 for MyQ. Homelink costs from your eBay link $170.00 plus tax. For a person leasing their Tesla MyQ may be a much better choice and you don't have to take your car apart. BTW I use MyQ and pay the annual fee. My base model 3 2024 (Red/White) Highland is 15 days old. MyQ is uncannily accurate.

Doesn’t MyQ require a Wi-Fi compatible garage door opener?
@theodorehartman5086
Күн бұрын
@@MrDksmall Yes. Either Wi-Fi is built into the garage door opener or you purchase a bridge from somebody to adapt the garage door to Wi-Fi. I would think most people with a Tesla also has a smart phone and it’s doubtful that these folks would have a garage door opener that’s not Wi-Fi enabled or at least easily done. But anyway, yes, Wi-Fi is required.

The main reason was not only the cost, but My Q sometimes worked and sometimes did not. We used the free trial and noticed when the tesla sent a ping to open the garage, it would sometimes miss. HomeLink has never failed us thus far. We also plan on keeping this car more than 3 years.
@provoking3449

@@MrDksmall You can get the MyQ Hub for free. Sign up for MyQ account and then in Tesla, connect the account. You will then get an email offering a free hub and trial. All you pay is $1. I have used both MyQ and Homelink and the subscription fee of $45 a year is so worth it because it knows when your garage is open. Well worth it.

After watching the TailwindIQ setup and function...no...no its not. TailwindIQ >myQ. Apples to Apples. Homelink is not wifi dependant or phone dependant. Compare apples to apples Michael. A simple google / youtube video search shows how the setup is complex for TailwindIQ and depends on certian factors to turn your garage opener into a smart garage. It will not be as smart as you think, go watch the videos. Having to "accept" terms and conditions in order to do anything is troubling to say the least, especially when all you want to do is open your garage door. Homelink is self contained and 100% compatible with any RF operated garage door. Add Tesla's UI and you have an automated door...its that simple. Not terms of use, not data sharing required, no 24/7 tracking via your phone( which is a battery drain btw).
@williamgrunzweig571
20 сағат бұрын
@@EMtesla1yes, but not without extensive addons and additional equipment. If I was driving anything else...like a Honda...then TailwindIQ could simplify things. For a Tesla, no TailwindIQ is utter garbage.
