Mining enough REE's to bring enough batteries to market will completely destroy entire echo systems, the disposal of these short lived batteries is also a huge environmental problem, and the electricity needed to accommodate the increased demand comes largely from coal. Does the 1 time impact of mining whatever is needed for the batteries affect the environment more than the decades of pollution created in the lifetime of every gasoline powered car? And what do you mean by them not being practical? From what I've heard they're very roomy on the inside since the space taken by the typical drivetrain and power plant is freed up. And who drives more than 200 miles a day? Unless you're taking road trips all the time, there shouldn't be any worry about running out of power during a typical week.

@@myetoob23 The INCREDIBLE tonnage of earth required to be mined to create just one battery is staggering. The rare earth metals needed are just not easy to get to. And how much oil/gas must be consumed to to extract them? Then, when the battery is at end of life, it must be disposed. These ARE NOT good for the environment. And the rate at which they will accumulate will only accelerate. Regarding range issues, when new, is not as much a problem. The batteries, however, lose range as they age. To make matters worse, EVs operating in cold climates become FAR less efficient, making older EVs in colder climates essentially totally impractical for many. I also posted at bottom (I think!). Ta Ta! I wasn't planning on the poll being done here, but it sorta looks like it sorta went that way. Of course this wasn't scientific in anyway. I counted as best I could. Some responses needed interpretation ie Gas vs EV, explaining type of car they preferred, For weekend vs daily driver, not the Plaid but waiting for a roadster, coulda woulda shoulda's, I prefer shifting, but many were clear in what they wanted. ZR1 did come out with more votes. Best I could count. ZR1 - 37. Tesla - 26. The first half of votes seem really close. "Maybe" within 3-5. Then the 2nd half votes increased for ZR1. Many people has expected had different votes for one or two cars. I tried to count what their 1st choice was. Appeared to me we have some serious enthusiast here. LOL Take care everyone! Thanks for taking the time to give your opinion.

I have a Z07 and a Plaid. I prefer 80/20 of Plaid/Vette. There is so much the Plaid can do for every day driving that it makes the Vette feel archaic, but the sound and vibrations of the Vette are perfect for weekends! Have a great day guys.

I’d take a base Corvette over a Tesla. They are the definition of boring, everybody has a Tesla.

I wouldn't like to own 2 cars because I have no need for 2, and the plaid is a better car for daily use so I take the plaid

How many times can the plaid do this before charge required?

Probably 100-200 before the battery would be so low that it wouldn’t let you put it into launch mode. But you’d still make it home on that last 10%.

9:30’s?? WTF, those battery cars are fast! Wonder how many passes you can make before you gotta plug it in? Incidentally, that vette was pretty quick too

Love how that Tesla beat the ZR1 when the ZR1 out the box is spanking every production car made 😂

I have driven many sports cars, I own myself a Nissan 300ZX modified to over 400 HP. My daily drive is now a Tesla Model 3 Performance. While ICE vehicles are fun, and the sound of engines with turbos are even more fun, I have to admit, EVs are the future... as someone from Tesla told me when I got the car “welcome to the future”. I can say that I am never ever going back to ICE. It actually took me just one day of driving the Model 3 to know that I am never going back. Cheers

Never say "never". We're reaching an odd time in human history where the availability of high tech may actually decline rather than advance.
