I'm a truck driver. Think about this: price tag is maybe going to be $350,000 for a sleeper. The operator will spend $620,000 over 8.19 years on fuel if diesel. If Tesla, just $155,000 in electricity. So the real price is getting paid $ 115,000 to own a Tesla. Like Elon said "I don't know why a trucking company wouldn't want to save some money. its allllllllll about the fuel.
@TeslaCarWorld
25 күн бұрын
You’ve made a great point. The total cost of ownership for a Tesla Semi could indeed be significantly lower when factoring in fuel savings. If the upfront cost of a sleeper truck is high but the long-term savings on fuel are substantial, the overall financial benefit becomes clear. With a projected price tag of around $350,000 and a much lower cost of electricity compared to diesel fuel, the savings over the truck’s lifetime can be considerable. As you noted, the total expenditure on fuel for a diesel truck could far exceed the cost of a Tesla Semi when considering the savings on electricity. Elon Musk’s point about cost savings being a major incentive for trucking companies is spot on. Over time, the lower operational costs could make electric trucks a more attractive option, especially as the technology matures and becomes more widespread.

Well Pepsi who owns most of them now have there own charging stations and so will any other companies that plan to switch. As far as long haul with charging stations along the way, we could build that in our sleep so lets keep it real will ya. Nobody is going to spend money for charging stations when no one is using them for long haul, if they do then you'll see them at truck stops everywhere. You get 350/500 mile range and that's just fine for the city as your sitting in a dock for most of the day. I drove truck in the city for a decade and spent more hours getting loaded and unloaded then I ever did driving and your not burning range sitting in traffic.

@TeslaCarWorld

Reducing the battery weight is indeed a smart move, and Tesla is known for engineering solutions that balance weight and performance. By using advanced materials and improving battery design, like with the 4680 cells, Tesla can achieve a lighter battery without compromising capacity. This not only helps maintain or even increase the truck’s range but also keeps the total vehicle weight within limits for optimal cargo capacity. While weight reduction is challenging, Tesla’s track record suggests they’ll ensure the battery remains durable and reliable. If successful, this approach will enhance the Semi’s efficiency and make it even more competitive in the market.

The new aerodynamic wheels sound great, but will they make a noticeable difference?
@TeslaCarWorld
25 күн бұрын
Yes, the new aerodynamic wheels on the Tesla Semi are likely to make a noticeable difference in performance. Aerodynamic wheels are designed to reduce drag, which can significantly enhance the vehicle's efficiency, especially at high speeds. For a heavy-duty truck like the Semi, minimizing drag is crucial for maximizing range and reducing energy consumption. While the difference might seem small on its own, when combined with other aerodynamic improvements, it contributes to the overall efficiency gains. This could result in longer range, lower operating costs, and better performance, making these wheels a valuable addition to the Semi’s design.
