Keep the doors closed and you can get places. My wife didn't understand how I could get to places faster than she thought I should until she rode with me. Then, 1995, we could ride 10 hours straight without having to take a now mandated break. Then also we could show driving 16 hours in a 24 hour period if you did it right since we only had to show an 8 hour break. If it was a critical load and most every company was using paper logs on occasion I drove 16 hours non-stop. My Driver Manager knew it and would always make sure I could get some decent sleep before picking up my next load.

Elon is a very technical guy. He specializes in quickness and technology. Interior wise is very simple and everything is done on screen. Their reliability is increasing because of their tech, every update,and they release. I’d say overall, they are doing awesome for a 2003 company. As a small owner op who's interested in purchasing, my question is where will they be located. I run locally typically 300 miles a day. Sometimes more. I'd need to recharge daily on top of my deliveries. I can only drive 11 hours a day and be "on duty" for 14. Fueling up is usually a 15 minute process at the end of my day at the yard. I'm parking as soon as I'm done fueling and going home. Right? And not in the middle of the day as I have deliveries to make. Refuelling or in this case recharging is large part of planning how the day is going to go, which is why it's best to charge at the end of the day thus being fully charged for the next days work. Where will I be able to charge this thing? Will it be 45 minutes from my yard? That means 45 minutes out of my way, ONE WAY. How long will it take to charge? Will there be a line to wait in? I need every minute I can get for actual deliveries. If you're 1 second over your DOT hours and an accident occurs that's an automatic felony. This charging issue is going to be prohibitive for many for some time it appears.

I noticed when they showed the trailer being closed, that it was a floor load with single stack pallets. Unless it's batteries or something heavy that looks like a light load to me.
@BigBen621
5 ай бұрын
If you'll look frame-by-frame from the start, you'll notice several things. First, as far as is visible, the pallets are loaded lengthwise, 2 pallets per row, except for the third row from the back which has one pallet loaded widthwise. A little research will disclose that a standard 53' box trailer can carry 26 pallets loaded lengthwise; so as far as one can see, there are 25 pallets on the floor. Second, there are some double-stacked rows toward the front; it's impossible to see how many but there could be one, two or even three. Third, in one of the first frames, you'll see the pallet in the right rear location marked 600 KG, which is nearly 3/4 ton. And since best practice for loading semis is to load the lightest products to the rear, it's reasonable to guess that the average weight is somewhat higher than that. 25 pallets on the floor plus perhaps 6 or even more double stacked at the front is 31 pallets; so even if none of them is >600 KG, the total is a minimum of 31 x 600 KG x 2.205 lbs./KG = 41,000 lbs.; and probably more unless all pallets are the same weight. Not what I'd call a light load.

A ~10 second bathroom break is 45 minutes which is definitely enough time to charge. Also, there’s continuity in most of the video except in the 1:38-1:41 block from bathroom break to go back on the road. It looks like a definite break in the video.

@MrKatanaSan
Жыл бұрын
@@kirkpuppy Exactly! From a business standpoint this is a no-brainer! I even go and say it is probably going to be less than half. Most of these operating expenses will be in maintenance, which would consist mostly in tires (probably will wear our a bit faster than diesel, due to the faster acceleration, but that's a great price to pay ha-ha!). As filters - cabin air filer, and that's it. Maybe the coolant used for the batteries would need to be replaced at a certain mileage/hours of operation. And the total cost of the truck + charger will probably be amortized sooner, because you save so much more money, without having to pay for diesel fuel.
