My 2021 Model Y developed a paint bubble on the left front bumper within the last year. I asked Tesla service about repairing it, and they responded that they do not do paint repairs. They referred me to a local body shop. After carefully inspecting the damaged paint, the body shop person explained that the paint bubble occurred because the bumper surface had not been properly prepared and lacked the proper undercoat. He said that it took a while to show up, because it is likely that a small rock or similar object chipped the paint, and once the surface was compromised, the area continued to chip away. I took my car to 2 other body shops and received the same diagnosis. Even though this is clearly a manufacturing defect, Tesla service refuses to take responsibility. Bottom line, I love my car, but customer service is definitely lacking. I enjoy your info & updates! Keep up the good work.

I picked up a 2024 M3 Performance just a week ago. It goes in next week for a misaligned door and a paint chip at the seam of the rear bumper. I will ask about the oil leak but my guess is that they will just tell me to wait. I've long outgrown pushing cars hard and the Performance version wasn't on my short list to replace a 2020 mod 3, but the ride quality and handling seduced me. Now if they would just get FULL self driving to work (able to read No Left Turn signs and arrows, able to see and avoid small debris on the roadway and not scare passengers half to death with mano a mano merges. If it has to go in for an oil leak fix, I will still like this car.

My wifes model S needs to go in because it has collision warning alarms that go off and lock wheel for partial second during some turns. Seems to be when there are cars parked in area. Also turing right into parking lot it will sometimes alarm and lock wheel for fraction of second. They tried to fix this by disabling radar but made it worse. Problem with taking car in is getting a car to drive leaving. They have been reluctant in past to give me one or rent one. This had been going on for over 6 months.

My most recent issue was with the right front fender camera on my 2017 MX. It failed after my previous issue, which was the front air suspension replacement. Right after the suspension repair (which was quite expensive) FSD would not work. By checking the camera feeds, it was clear that the right front fender camera was not functional. At first, I thought that perhaps the repair tech may have forgotten to re-connect the camera after repairing the suspension, so I checked it myself and it appeared to be connected properly. I then made an appointment to get the camera serviced. The first service quote was for >$1500, where they planned to replace the 3 forward facing cameras along with the fender camera AND the cable to the fender camera (which was the bulk of the quote estimate). I pushed back on this estimate and asked them, nicely, to please change the fender camera first ($175 cost). They agreed to do this and I ended up paying $185 for the repair. Sometimes the Tesla service people recommend the strangest things!

There are multiple reasons for BYD's cheap vehicles not in the US market. Their cheaper cars cannot really be marketed as cars (they have a few city cars, sub $10k pricetag, manufactured for other brands in China) as they are not crashworthy. Especially in frontal impacts and sorb crash impacts. Also, to evade tariffs, their origin of parts rules means they have to build parts too in North America - which CCP has only 'advised' against.
