The price for the buyer (here: viewers) is not increased. This is win-win:-win: you get money, we get a direct link without an increased price, the seller sells products. Yay! Finally something informative about this paint, unlike the official videos that don't really tell you anything about it beyond its basic hue. I can see this working well for green flames if you let them dry upside-down. That said, kind of a misleading name, yeah, but since GW never pointed out any sort of actual (fluorescent) glow effect when they demonstrated the paint, I've already had weeks to make peace with it most likely being yet another not-quite-Shade, not-quite-Contrast paint in their Technical range, which it indeed turned out to be. Anyway, I may end up using it for some glowing eyes or cracks (in skin or ground), but large areas not so much.

Howdy! I'm a new subscriber, commenting for the Aug 21st Indomitus drawing. I've shared your channel on facebook, and it felt right to comment on the first video of yours I saw. I've been a Necron player since 6th edition, and so I came across this video while brainstorming the color scheme for my upcoming new additions to my necrons, but I've been in the hobby for about 18 years now. I never expected I'd enjoy painting as much as I have, and your videos have been fantastic for ideas and techniques! If you want another way to do that, use a water effect resin (the GreenStuff World is perfect for this purpose, and you can use it for drops, puddle, etc.) then pass a heavy coat of Nurgle's Rot (Blood for the Blood God works wonders too). It will get the colour of green bile, but also maintain a lucid effect. If you make a drop (by using a string of nylon), it will also be semi-transparent.

My favorite painting memory was when I painted my very first miniatures. It was a ork loota squad that my older brother got me for my 15th birthday. I spent a hour assembling my loota squad. I fell in love with the hobby on the spot. But I had no paints for them, so they sat there for months waiting to be painted, untill it was Christmas were I couldn't sleep my mind filled with thoughts of orky goodness. So I went out of my room to find all of my siblings and parents awake at 3 am. So they let us go through our stockings. What lay in mine? About a dozen paints and 3 brushes. I was so excited I grabbed my lootas and got painting. I spent 2 hours painting them with my older brother. I never had so much fun painting anything before or since.

It wasn't until I quit caring about being super precise that I finally *got* edge highlighting. I kept trying to make the edges super thin and barely even touched and it just never looked right. Once I got frustrated and let the edge be a bit rougher on my first Cryptek, I noticed that it actually looked pretty good! Looked more weathered and scratched up. Loved the effect so much, I applied to everything I could touch... Which may have been slightly overkill.

That Necron seems to have a lego lightsaber stuck in its blaster...which is actually a very nice effect! Also, I think I would like to see this on a piece with deep ridges like a plasma weapon, or the little ridged bit on a Skitarii Vanguard’s galvanic carbine. The rather aggressive pooling might work better on a piece with lots of surface variations rather than a big, flat wing. It seemed to eat up all the sparkle/shimmer of the metallics, but it was very nice on the dryads leaves.

I profess extremely limited knowledge on the subject, but this seems a lot like a wash to me. It pools in crevices, is nearly transparent away from them, and builds spotty pools on flat surfaces. So it's probably a good component in green glow, but to make it pop, I guess the magic is in the highlight. Or you could try something that probably won't work, but may be worth a try: Mixing CultureHustle's LIT in there. That would make the bits where it pools, well, glow, but literally. I wonder what that'd look like. And judging from how you experiment with colors, you'd probably like to know, too.

It seems like this would work well for dripping into the glowing slots in Necron objects like Iike Immortals' gauss blasters. For stuff like Necron power cables, it seems you'd want to turn the model upside down so that the paint pools at the base of the cable, not the outer curve of the cable. And maybe over a light paint like Ushabti Bone to get yellow at the lighter part on the outside curve of the cable.

I actually think this is going to make glow really easy from seeing your results on top of yellow and dark green, basically instead of building up the colours then softening the transition, it looks like applying a dark green with yellow on the central point then a wash with this will give the same effect but much quicker, and for eyes, paint them white with a yellow point, wash with this for a bright green with yellow highlight, seems like a nice addition to the paint collection

It's great glaze-based paint, I'll only do some of the paints. I prefer the normal basecoat, shade, layering and drybrushing mostly. I've completed the other two tasks! I shared this video via Twitter, I hope you can find it that way! My most memorable painting story would be the first miniatures I ever painted. When I was in high school, the Lord of the Rings trilogy movies were coming out and I was really into Dungeons and Dragons. I bought the Lord of the Rings paint set for the Men of Gondor to use as miniatures for D&D. I painted up a few soldiers with the included starter brush which is how I learned that you can get a lot of detail using a dry brushing technique. When I got to painting the eyes, the starter brush was not sharp enough, so I bought a #000 brush from my local hobby shop. When I showed the soldiers to my friends they thought I painted the eyes with a single hair! LOL! I still have these soldiers to this day, and I have them displayed on my desk at work. Still looking good almost 20 years later!

I'd like to dry brush the white 1st or light colors, then dry brush the green for that glow👍

Thanks for the demonstration. I'm thinking of using this sparingly as the second highlight for my Salamanders after Moot Green.

Thenks for experimenting with that paint. Can you maybe compare it to Vallejo green fluorescent paints?

The glow on the gold really gave it an otherworldly pallor

I really like the tesseract glow, however it would be great if they made several other colors that glow also.

Thanks for the experiment. It looks like something equivalent to a wash for reverse highlighting, where the recesses are intended to be brighter than the edges. I imagine it would be really effective on plasma coils.

Not sure what I think of this paint. I thought the 2 best tests were the leaves/eyes on the dryad and on the left wing of the gargoyle guy where it was just based in wrathbone. It had a nice transition effect from the bright green on the edges and turning gradually to white as it got to the center which seemed more realistic to me. I feel like for something like necrons maybe the moot would be better because its more consistent? Not sure, never painted one. But. My indomitus is on the way soon I hear. Many necrons will have to be painted. Looking forward to further tests!

did they say if you can thin it with water, lahmian medium or contrast medium? cause just from the looks of it, it kinda looks like contrast paint, which would mean you would need contrast medium to thin it properly

it brushes on more like an ink or shade/wash, for sure. thanks for the review, now i know what it looks like. 🙂

I'd recommend lava beads rather than steel bearings. Eventually stainless steel will rust and ruin the paint (though sure, it may take years). Can't remember where I got the tip but lava beads are more dense and less fragile than glass beads, another common choice for agitator, and don't form rust like steel will. The only real downsides are that there isn't the same range of sizes available and they cost a bit more.

Ok, ok... I just bought some phosforescent acrylic paint and I'm mindtripping over putting this new paint over it! I can't wait to get to my hobby shop and get me a bit of Tesseract Glow!

Hopefully that works. Phosphorescent paint can only be charged by light with a higher wavelength so if you put a transparent green over something that's supposed to glow green that might not work. Not entirely sure, though and I hope that it works out for you!

I have started to use resin to make things and was wondering what it would do to a transparent piece. I did not see you put it on the barrel of that necron's weapon (I may have missed it), but it seems like it might "magic glow" more if light is passing through it. Great video; you have me some ideas.
