One year my grand father planted sorghum and corn together to chop. It was all the the 4020 and super 717 chopper could handle in first gear one row at a time. Good luck with test plot.

Great to see you back on video I’ll look for your instagram. We’ve got same low hay totals this year. The valley looks beautiful. Neighbors have trouble with deer and turkeys with their wrapped bales. Turkeys poke holes and the bales rot. Love the test plot. We plant beans and corn for the deer. Could try the same thing for cattle….I’ll watch.

This test plot serves two purposes, 1st is to see how well it actually works and 2nd is it'll serves as our hunting plot! Turkey are a hard one to control, the feed yard that we are building has 9 to 10 high sides, however, turkey can fly! Thanks for the support Dave, looking forward to seeing more of you oat harvest videos

Same here my seed sat for weeks also before anything came up then it was all uneven! My oats and peas turned out great, and oats and peas w/ sorghum turned out great also, BUT I planted some corn to empty out the planter the seeded sorghum and soybeans in it that was almost a total wreck, even planted some grain sorghum and that didn't turn out either but I have a hell of a crop of giant foxtail!

Good to see you Brad!! Get all you can!! Year #5 here, our grass was 50% of normal, our oats made about 20% of what it should have.. but we have enough to get through winter. I'm glad we don't have deer issues here!! Blacktail don't herd up and devour everything.. they just steal a little bit of grass.. Will be nice to see what you're talking about 👍

Interesting combination test plot. Looking forward to how that will work out, tough year for most. Wheat crop here in Kansas was terrible, just as harvest started, so did the rains. Weeds overtook the short wheat crop, sprayed off the weeds and waited for the sprouted wheat to grow. Now they are baling up whatever grew.

Th size difference in soybean and sorghum seed i would think would be hard to seed together.i would think asyou drive the bouncing action across tbe field would cause the seed to separate. Weather surely has been a problem this year. Too bad we cant control it like our government does. 🤔🤔😁

Definitely a slow way to move bales one at a time. Guess when you do it by yourself you don't use a trailer to load several bales at a time. The dry weather really seems to have reduced everyone's feed. Wonder if winter will come later to make up for it? Do you fill in the dens with a skid steer?
@LVFFarmVlogs
Жыл бұрын
I have a bale wagon that I pull behind the tractor. Have it set up to hook and unhook on 3 point. But for these few bales and wasting some time I just did 1 at a time
@LVFFarmVlogs
Жыл бұрын
I honestly use this tractor for almost all my loader work. The skid steer has been hooked to the post hole auger for a month. The tractor travels faster, does less damage to the fields and it's easier to see out of. It would never fully replace the skid steer

Big feedlot over here in Montana does the soy beans and corn deal but they’re running a big self propelled chopper with a Kemper head and chop it all at once, makes fantastic feed and is a good way to up the tonnage! Would love to see how yours turns out!
@LVFFarmVlogs
Жыл бұрын
Yeah, I've seen a few guys doing it now, and you are right, the Kemper style head would be ideal. I'm hoping the belt style head with collect the majority of it. The rest could be grazed or left for ground cover. I will probably make a video explaining more of my ideas and reasoning in a future video if there is enough interest. Thanks for the support

@@LVFFarmVlogs after you pick the corn I wonder if you could swath it and bale it? Or swath it and then use your chopper with the pickup head on it. I had some corn a few years back get away from me and the grasses grew up like crazy in it so I just swathed and baled it and it turned out great, after that I started swathing my outside rounds to open the fields for my pull type chopper, cows always went crazy for those corn bales
