Final comment : I’m glad you mentioned your health is doing well. I get worried if weeks go by with no video :). I will not be adopting Windows 11. I’ve been on Linux Mint MATE 19.x for a few years and love it. I’m considering a move to OpenSUSE. If you haven’t tried it in a while give it a test spin in a VM. It’s very nice. Regarding Microsoft I’m not surprised at all that they want to require an online account to install and use Windows 11 locally. They’ve been headed that way for a while and it’s an attempt to herd users to their cloud services and away from the competition. Apple and Google are doing the same. So I’ve abandoned ALL of them. Linux is my world now.

Linux is my world too. I don't begrudge anyone who wants to use Windows, but I do like to provide the caveats as do other KZitemrs. Thanks for the comments!

@@FastGadgets Not all KZitemrs do so, unfortunately. We have to be honest about it. For some games you will have to use Windows, it is up to the gamer if he decides to let himself get forced to use that OS. The same for some software like Adobe and CAD, you might be forced to use Windows or Apple for that. In the later case it mostly is work-related. What we are really waiting for is SR-IOV so that we can run Windows or Apple sandboxed in a VM but AMD and NVidia refuse to give us that because they want to upsell their more expensive cards with that (and with other features).

so... my less than a few months old pc that I just put together with new parts and a 2060 super and a ryzen 3700x will not support windows 11. love the video and the explanation of it. but now its making me contemplate microsofts decision to do this with their update...

Commenting at around the halfway point in the video : I wonder how much of this new release is motivated by trying to defeat ransomware.
@FastGadgets

I would say that's definitely another possibility. When it happens it's an embarrassment.

@@FastGadgets - did you read about the largest ransomware in history that occurred last week? The attackers focused on the systems management companies that hundreds of companies outsource their Windows PC management to. That’s enough to give corporations pause and consider something other than Windows!

I think that there are two reasons: OEM's beggin MS to have a new release so that they can sell systems (because right now you get bad hardware for the price) and MS trying to improve security.
