@0give I'm gasping for LR primers. I can get powder and bullets in .308 and .458, (but not .358.) Manufacturers have been playing to the lowest denominator of new gun owners shooting .223 and .308 factory ammo and don't give a rip about reloading. Meanwhile, us reloaders get the hind teat with availability of powders, bullets, brass and especially primers for large rifles.

In this video & article we mention several classics: 30-06, 6mm Remington, 25-06, and the 375 H&H. Last August we posted an article & video about hunting with the 30-06 using H4350. Bear, elk, pronghorn & mule deer. Yes, we know & use many of the classic cartridges. I do think we'll have to test a 270 Win someday, so far I've got it bracketed with the 25-06 & 30-06 rifles.

I need to try and develop my loads for the 308win so that way I can see if I can stop using Varget.. On the 6CM I running it with 108, 109, 112 and 115 Berger’s almost with the same loads getting very low and consistent sd. Also it’s very accurate on my 7SAUM with the 180, 183 and 184 gr bullets. Super low sd as well. Impressively accurate on the 7mm Mauser with 140-180 gr bullets, 257 Roberts from 100-135 gr bullets and 9.3X62 Mauser with 250-285 bullets.

Great video. I started using H4350 in my 6.5 CM AR10 with 22" barrel. 140 ELDm 41.5 at 2698 fps. For a gas gun it does pretty good with less than .68" groups at 230yds. My savage elite 6.5CM 24" does well with 40.2 of H4350 with the 140eldm at 2720 fps. Because of your staball video an seeing it available now, I had to try some of that. The only Hodgdon labelled powder I have used is their Superformance for my .30-06's. Otherwise I have been a devoted IMR powder reloader using the IMR 4064 and 3031 most of the time for my .308 and .35 Remington. I am gradually moving toward the Winchester 748 and 760 as my 'go-to' powders for the .308 and .30-06. The pressure index is lower than other powders and the velocity lost due to this is negligible. And, they meter much more easily. I like your thoughts about compressed loads even though you didn't say compressed. I never thought about the gap between the primer and powder in the casing if you are pointing downward in a hunting situation or combat position. I loved seeing the .375 H&H Magnum in your line-up.

I use H4350 for my 30.06, and 300 WinMag. Using the 168 grain TTSX Barnes bullet for both. Both perform well, but for some reason my WinMag really came alive with this powder. 75 grains is at 3320 with an sd of 11. Browning X-Bolt 26” barrel. And for some reason the recoil isn’t that bad? I only get 2870 out of my 30.06 with 57.5, but recoil feels similar.?? 30.06 is about 4 ounces lighter and has a 24” barrel (Rem 700). Anyway, it’s my favorite powder.

What about 308 win loading a 178 gr ELDx bullet? Will it work?

I would rather have smaller extreme spread in my loads

I started with IMR 4350 in my 7 Rem Mag years ago. As it became hard to get, switched to H4350. Great consistant powder. Running 62gr behind 145gr BTSP

When you say StaBall is slower, you are referring to it's burn rate? I am getting ready to start a 270 Win load and StaBall seems to provide the highest velocities.

Yes, 6.5 StaBall is has a slower burn-rate, but I get higher velocities in my 7mm-08, compared to H4350.

I love 4350, I wish it was more available though, I use it for my 6.5 creed loads I’m curious if IMR 4350 and H4350 are the same, so Amy say it’s the same powder made in the same factory, but I’m not sure if this is actually true.

No not the case. H4350 is made in Australia by ADI and sold here as AR2209.

I just bought my first H4350 ever. Neat story. But I have loaded 7mm RemMags since mid 80s. I mainly used IMR4350 & IMR4831 with all bullet weights. I started using H1000 & Retumbo. But I worked up a sweet whitetail load with IMR4451 @ 2825. I have a "ladder test" worked up with some different bullets using IMR4451 & H4350 to compare the 2. Eager to get velocities, SDs, & groups. Thank you all.

Retumbo in my 7 mag with 168 grn ABLR'S, IS INCREDIBLE.. it shoots a very tight group, @ 3000 fps, in my Model 70.

@@andrewowens6754 I am sure it is fantastic. I landed on the 69.5 grain of Retumbo and 162 ELDX. I got 2950ish average low SD/ES submoa. I intend to use these for elk out west next year or two. My whitetail load with 4451 or H4350 is still great for them. Enjoy, stay safe and happy hunting.

This stuff is garbage don't waste your time or $$$. Just leave it on the shelf and I'll grudgingly take it home and find some way to use it. Ha!
