Hey Itkaffey, Thanks for that. I created these short ignition videos when I was teaching apprentices during lockdown. They are just the tip of the iceberg. Yes, you are right. The feedback circuit is used by the ECU to detect misses, not only for code identification, but also the ECU shuts off the fuel injector to that cylinder, which in turn, as you said, is a catalyst protection strategy. Do only toyota coils have this feedback connection?

Good question! As far as my research shows, I have only found Toyota to have this system, but I may be wrong. GM use a different style of 4-wire coil as shown in this video. kzitem.info/news/bejne/pJ-AzXl_iX6UfHo Thanks for your comment 😉👍
