Over the course of a week I decided to test a wild crow’s intelligence with a multi-lidded box I found at a jumble sale. The box has eight compartments, each with a lid. At first I set up the box with food in each section, and some lids removed, some ajar and some closed, so that the crow would see there was food under the ajar lids. Over the week I gradually closed all the lids. The box was set up about 15 times in total. And the final result is a crow that yeets lids in all directions with great haste.
Unfortunately the box is now incomplete as the crow got a fright right as it took hold of a lid, and it took off holding it. It may have dropped it as it flew, but finding it has proven to be like a needle in a haystack. 🥲
